Where are your favourite holiday spots here in the UK?
We tend to go abroard at least once a year, with maybe a short break or two in this country.
I love Northumberland, The Lakes and Scotland and tend to gravitate to those. For warmer weather we should go south really however! Last year we had a week in Cornwall. That was lovely , but it is a long way for us, and the weather was in fact not all that good when we were there. I think we were just unlucky!

So, where do you recommend? I am thinking of late August to September (but being back in time to go to Birmingham on 15th!!)

We quite like Edinburgh , lots to see and do , and of course our fav York .
We haven't been to Cornwall for years its such a long journey a good 8 hours drive or more for us ,
Last night we booked a few days in Germany in December , Us ,Martin & Clair, and his Mam , we are taking his mam to Hamburg to see family and visiting the markets while we are there ,
His Mam has been wanting to go back but at 83 she,s lost her confidence traveling alone so we making a family affair of it ,

We have been to quite a few places but I think Devon would have to be one of our favourites. We went there in the summer after OH had had his heart attack the previous winter, it was ideal it's s very peaceful beautiful place to visit, although there are a few hills if you have a car it's not a problem. The Lynton and Lynmouth cliff railway is a must . The views across Lynmouth Bay is beautiful

As we live in the south and DH doesn't enjoy driving long distances now we tend to stay down here if we are planning a short break. We love South Wales, Cornwall and Devon. We're off to,Devon next week in fact, have a few places on my list to visit.

Well Cornwall is our favourite as a family but my OH and I used to love Yorkshire, especially the dales but we were walkers in those days.

We love the Norfolk Broads,but haven't been for about 9/10 years.
If we want a break for just a couple of nights we love Whitby.

Whitby for me to & Liverpool for city one lots of things to do went for 5 days still did not do everything on the ferry so wanted to sing lol

I think when you are from the north like me you tend to gravitate towards further north as it's still nearer than going down south, I love Norfolk and it's as far as OH will drive. If you look at a coastal map there isnt much coast line that's habitable from Hornsea to Great Yarmouth really, if it was for the sand dunes it would be Bamburgh Castle area, for city breaks it's London all the way I adore the city so many hidden gems when you walk round corners into an unknown street there is always something of interest.When we got married our first holiday was in Swanage near Corfe Castle and although I havnt been back it holds such special memories, we bought a little cottage when we first got married and whilst in Winchester we bought an old brass fender cleaned it up and it's been in my hearth although not the same house for 45 yrs always think of Swanage when cleaning it lol

I'm a northerner who's migrated south, so I've got a foot in several (holiday) camps. OH is from North Wales, and it was where I spent most of my childhood trips to the seaside - Llandudno, mainly. Then we had a static caravan in Anglesey, which we both love. We love south Wales, too, and are now exploring Dorset with the caravan - we went to Swanage a couple of weeks ago, Qwerty, and it was lovely and ideal for a short break.

We too love Northumberland at one point many years ago we very nearly bought a house in Acombe not far from Hexham but I was put off when the locals told me they where snowed in for sometimes 4 weeks during the winter and it was difficult for the DCs to get to school,I also love Newton Stuart we stayed there in a log cabin for a week and the area and people where so so friendly fabulous places to go and greatest food ever.
