My GD and I have booked to go to Brighton in June, staying in the Queens Hotel on the front, she wants me to go on the i360, not sure about that, have any of you ladies been on this ride? I haven't been to Brighton since a child, it was our nearest seaside when I lived at home. I have booked the hotel, secure parking now have to decide about booking this ride, I gather there is a bar so I will have to just get drunk, or perhaps not.

Ooh, I don't know anything about this Plant! I presume your GD knows you well and wouldn't suggest it unless she thought it was something you could do.
When I am unsure about a ride, I look for a You Tube video of it to get a feel for it.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Plant, you'll have a lovely time. I often used to shop in Brighton when we lived in Worthing, and it was always a popular destination with our visitors. The i360 looks brilliant - a combination of the Eye and the Seattle Space Needle, with touches of the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth. They've done a lot of work on the Pavillion since we lived around there - well worth visiting.

Gem - I love Brighton! I first went there when I was a teenager and loved it then, and the best thing about living in Worthing was having Brighton on your doorstep for shopping, theatre, live music and all the usual seaside entertainments, although the beach is pebbles. I love The Lanes with all the quirky shops and the town has such a lively atmosphere."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

Plant - I used to love browsing round The Lanes! I'm not keen on visiting old buildings of any kind, but the Pavilion really is interesting and different. I like the contrast between the opulence of the 'reception' rooms and the cave-like kitchens. Also it's right there in the middle of town - not in 500 acres of grounds like most stately homes.
