Yes three times Charming Island, very rocky beaches in most places except up north where you do get some sand. English is widely spoken, and people are friendly and the food is great.
There are some good deals in hotels but always pick a 5* if you can, not as expensive as you may think, but they do offer the best in facilities. If you are not clubbers, avoid St. Julians and often St. Paul's Bay as they have many nightclubs. And they can be very loud indeed.
No need for a car as taxis are cheap and buses go all over the island.
March is warm but still cool in the evenings. October is a nice time to go. Try for a trip to Gozo a magical little Island by ferry. We stayed there for a week too and it was lovely. Very peaceful.
Good deals out of season. VERY hot in summer as so close to Africa. Valetta is an interesting Capital City. Lots to see.
If going in summer don't choose to stay inland in a hotel or villa as it will be stifling. Always stay by the sea if you can.
There is a saying in Malta, that the drivers always drive on the side of the road which is in shadow so watch out for some very continental type of driving!
If I think of any more I'll write on here. Longish flight though so not your hop skip 2 hour jump!
Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go. T.S Eliot
Malta is fabulous, we can't wait to return. So much history and if you dont want to eat in the hotel, eating out is very cheap. If you do not like it sizzling hot, july and august are the months to avoid.
We went in the early 90's. We stayed in Sliema. As Elisi says Valetta is a nice place to visit. Local transport and taxis are very good.
The people of Malta, LOVE us english.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.
Malta is very nice for a holiday....and they also make icecreams as good as the Italians!!Easy to get around and plenty to see and do. Fantastic old buses too.
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

Have to be honest and say I didn't enjoy Croatia, probably because we stayed on a small island. Would go again but would stay in Dubrovnik, much more accessible.
DD and family went there last year and had a great time. They had to go in school holiday time so it was very hot but they still managed some cultural visits as well as “pool” time.
I’ve been twice Gem once when DS was 2 he’s 42 now and a few yrs ago with DH I was a bit disappointed maybe it’s because I fell on a rough pavement with broken flags, I know culture of a country means a lot but I have never understood why pathways are so much in need of repair so my last visit I think, also it rained and it rained but I can’t remember what time of year it was .
