Malta is fabulous, I would go again in a heartbeat, we stayed in Buggiba but half board. The hotel we stayed at we didn't fancy the evening meals, but you can eat out very reasonably at any of the local restaurants around the area. I'm afraid a holiday for me means no cooking what so ever.

Elisi they have to be British Airways (or an associated airline) flights for us to qualify for discount etc. Which is why we are limited and for our main holiday in November (free tickets) they have to be flights direct to the destination or with shirt stopovers because once you disembark and go through border control you are no longer on staff travel. Normally I would say to forget the discounts but to be honest they are so spectacular and make the travelling/accommodation so much cheaper that you cannot just ignore them.

Cyprus is really nice although it does have some areas which are drunkeness and "let's pretend we are from a different country", we enjoyed it last year a lot and when we went ten years ago, I find the people extremely friendly and helpful and I lived there for a while as a child although it is so different now I don't recognise anything whereas when we went to Gibtaltar a few years ago I easily found where we used to live (2 sites), the hospital where my brother was born, the site of my old infant school, site of my junior school (now VERY expensive flats), the chapel where we attended and where my brother was baptised etc. etc. I think it had been about forty years plus since I had been there so I was quite impressed with myself and my memory especially considering I can walk from the sitting room to the kitchen (all of four steps) and forget what I went there for!!

We like self catering rather than all inclusive, I like to have a bit of fruit and yoghurt in the morning or something like that when on holiday (I do have a sensitive tum especially after travelling). Maybe a snack when we have been out all day. We never EVER cook full meals when we are on holiday preferring to go to local restaurants. I just feel free not being tied to breakfast times etc. I know you can completely ignore the restaurant times but there have been a couple of places we have stayed where they are not happy with guests taking food into their rooms and there have been some places where I would not eat from the breakfast/lunch/dinner buffet having seen what has gone on before.

So I am looking for the perfect place in March with hot weather, flying from terminal five Heathrow (upgraded to business of course - we are only allowed that for long haul😩) Short journey to hotel from airport in air conditioned limo and fizz, lovely room with hot and cold running waiters (preferably hot) and a fridge full of fizz and gin and tonic and all this for ....... OOOHHHH about £65 return including hotel and transfers...... YEAH 😂👍👏

Zizi - good luck with you wish list!!! When you find the perfect place - don't keep it a secret, although the rest of us can only look in envy at your BA discounts. (But then your lovely OH does work long and difficult shifts for them, so he deserves the perks. xx)

We went to Tenerife a number of times. Partly for the healing benefits of the salt water pools, because they have a very good hospital and I was still undergoing treatment at the time. The best hotel was the sandos san blas. Also enjoyed Puerto Cruz as it was nice to wander round in the evening.

We had a week of snow in Cyprus in April which we hadn't bargained on! Never been so cold in my life and always pack a few warm clothes wherever we go just in case.

How about Dubia or would the shops be too tempting?

Sicily is on our list as OH 's uncle is buried there in the war graves.

Shem - I remember my DS1 and DIL going to Cyprus in March 11 or 12 years ago, and DIL didn't even take a cardigan. She was so glad DS had taken two jumpers!!! It was really chilly. But it did make me make sure I pack for extreme weather where ever we go now.
