    Packing for Holidays

My GS1 has today left for a 3-day school trip. Last night his mum checked he'd packed the essentials, and yes he had, ie his modified nerf gun (no, I don't know either!), his Raspberry Pi (computer) and Bluetooth speakers. Mum carefully removed them and substituted toothbrush and toothpaste, sunhat, suncream, swimwear, medication and money.

So as several ladies are just going on holiday or just returning, I thought it would be interesting to know what you see as absolute essentials when you're packing.

Moisturiser, eye balm, hand cream, deodorant, body lotion, face wash, body wash, razor, razor balm. Knickers, comfy bras, tee shirts, Cotten trousers, leggings, a good pair of jeans, couple of good looking light kimonos, a couple of nice skirts for going out, couple of daily skirts and of course swim costumes although I rarely wear them now with my "undercarriage" problems. My worry is shoes - I try so hard. Last time I took two pairs of flip flops, one pair of wedges, one pair of formal. Also bags. Last time I took my little teeny bag, my going on the plane bag and one other. I felt quite bereft with so few shoes and bags to choose from. I know I am high maintenance.........

I must have comfy footwear for daytime walking.

          Nerf Gun

          What is a nerf gun?

A Nerf Blaster is a toy gun made by Hasbro that fires foam darts, discs, or, in some cases, foam balls. The term "Nerf gun" is often used to describe the toy; however, it is often used as a blanket term for any foam dart blaster, regardless of whether or not it has the Nerf brand name

Apart from the obvious I take whatever I'm making at the time (knitting or sewing). On my last holiday I made a patchwork lion toy made from pieces cut from some of GS2s tiny baby clothes. I take my organiser for addresses for postcards & to record what we've done each day, personal CD player to listen to audio books, IPad (of course). I've just started taking a mattress topper too. It's obvious from what I take, that we stay in self catering holiday cottages in the UK.

Oh I always take trainers for comfort. iPad which has kindle, email and games on, I don't bother with straighteners anymore, I just bung my hair up in a messy bun or clip these days BUT I do have to have my anti tangle hairbrush and Elnett hairspray. I have in the last couple of years taken a pillow due to listening to others on here and I am glad for that, thank you ladies. I also take lots of plastic bags, the zip up variety in different sizes. I don't know why, I just think they might come in handy. I also take tea towels, paper towels, napkins, wash up cloth, wash up liquid and washing liquid, salt and pepper and coffee if we are going to an apartment. Husband thinks I am bonkers. He is probably right .....

Just having just come back from an English cottage holiday, I was very pleased I took a pillow. Hot brush and hairspray is a must. Coats for rain or shine and a variety of shoes. Tablets and other items that hold me together

The most essential thing we take anywhere is an extension lead with 4 plug sockets, then we only need the one converter. I always take a pillow when we holiday in England.

We mostly cruise these days and we always take our pillows , I put them in vacuum bags to get in case then use the cleaners vacuum to squash them again to bring home , Grauntie the 4 way extension is a brilliant idea I will be using that tip

I am a nightmare packer, in the case out the case, until the taxi is outside to take us on our way....drives OH nuts....(maybe that is part of the fun for me), lists upon lists i do...

Would go nowhere without straightners, shoes, and more shoes...the plug is defo a good idea so will be taking that next time...

Me and OH went for a walk a few weeks ago, took 3 pairs of shoes and 2 different coats in the boot of the car, OH just shakes his head but said who needs 3 pairs of shoes for a walk.....

When we go to our place in Portugal we already have our clothes there but I take my kindle, Yorkshire Teabags, any cosmetic that i'm running out of over there (I keep a little notebook and write things I need to take). If we're going elsewhere I like to pack light - I always think if I miss something I'll just buy another!
