I was there a couple of weeks ago and will be there again on 21st June. When I go for business I stay at New Street only because it is easier for me to drop my bag off and go to my meetings. I was talking to someone working on our site Paradise Circus (near the Library and near the square where we took the open top bus tour) and he says he can drive me to the meeting as we are both going, said he would send me exact details. I told him why I knew Birmingham so didn't need directions and how I knew Birimngham and he thought it was wonderful. He asked me for the web address of GRU to give to his mum but I said to give her my email and I would give it to her direct. Not having sons OR colleagues poking their noses in!!!!

He laughed when I told him where we had been and what we have done, I even told him about the lens envy episode! He said that he had always looked at me as a proper grown up but he was now starting to wonder. I am mortified that he EVER looked at me as a proper grown up. Makes me sound awfully old.....

Have fun Q and look forward to the report xx

Ahhh, Qwerty, visiting our familiar haunts - I hope it bring back happy memories. Enjoy. I wonder if Cadbury's World will have their Christma ..... errr, I mean December stock in yet???

Zizi - good thinking to pass on your email address, it would be lovely if she joined us. I hope he realised lens envy is a recognised sport among photographers. LOL

We had a lovely canal boat holiday when our DSs were little and we chugged through Birmingham, had a great time. So much so it persuaded us to get our own narrow boat.

We are taking our three to Chessington and staying overnight on 2nd/3rd July. This has given me an awful lot to do as the kitchen contents have to be sorted ready for rip out of old kitchen on the 4th. During the previous week I am running two work events in London. Bad timing from me but they were organised before we had the kitchen dates. I am looking forward to spending some time with the children. It doesn't happen so much these days and Joe will be in senior school in September so probably won't want to hang out with grandma and granddad for much longer.

Q the New Street Premier still has a Thyme restaurant with self service and I have noticed on my travels that most other Premiers still have Thyme. Would you say the Beefeater was better? I must admit I do like having breakfast served rather than buffet.
