    Off for a few days

Tomorrow OH and I are going to Stratford Upon Avon for a few days. We were kindly offered the use of a friend's flat, as they have stayed with us a couple of times. We decided to take up this offer. I have always wanted to visit Stratford so this is a good opportunity to.

We have found out tonight that the flat has no internet
We knew there was no TV. We thought we would watch I player and of course assumed that we would be able to go online. We can use the internet at her friends flat nearby, but as that isn't where we are staying, I don't know how feasible this will be. I'm sure I will get online, but I now know it won't be very much!
No internet!! How can they exist??!!!

Gemini - it's shocking isn't it! I know when we were on holiday with no internet I felt so cut off from the world - to say nothing of my GRU friends! It's a very strange feeling.

Once you've logged on to the friend of the friend's internet, you will probably find the signal strong enough to use it nearby - eg in your car if you can park outside, or a cafe, shop etc.

Enjoy your holiday - I hope Stratford isn't too busy! Have you booked for the theatre?

This was a recent decision to take this break, so nothing booked at the theatre. I will see what is available when we get there. I love theatre and most Shakespeare (not the 'Kings ' so much!) but OH not so keen. We definitely want to do the backstage tour. Our friend works for the Shakespeare Houses trust so we can see those free

Thanks for the texting offer Oma! x

I must pack and sort out the house out for cat sitting friends, so I will report from S On A, as soon as I can!

Really interesting place to visit. Lots to see and do. Most libraries have free internet but you sometimes have to book. Plenty of cafes/pubs so sure you will be able to stay in touch though being offline might add to the break and be quite restful. Have a great time!

Gemini - I hope you've had a good journey and are coming to terms with not having WiFi all the time.

(I made this post yesterday, but for some reason it sat in the limbo between Restore or Discard!!)

Daisy that is the least of my problems LOL. The bed is tiny, creaky and,to us, uncomfotrable. If it were down to me we would be in Premier Inn the next 2 nights. We are definitely coming home on Tuesday, not staying until Wed am!!
Having said that, they are great company, and we had a nice day, Anne Hathaways cottage and gardens, and a walk along the riverside.

Gemini - what a shame about the bed! I can remember never caring about an uncomfortable bed or pillow, now it's a high priority! Perhaps we're getting old! I'm glad you had a nice day today and managed to see some of the sights. I haven't been to Stratford for donkey's years, and I imagine it's a lot busier and more commercialised now - but still very interesting.

Well, we loved it! It is the only place I have ever been to that I could imagine living, apart from where I do live! We were got in free to all the Shakespeare properties, went up the tower in the RSC yesterday, ,spent time in town and by the river, and even went to the pub quiz with our friends. We packed a lot in and feel relaxed.
I was sorry to have no internet, but in a way it was very liberating! I was online almost every day in America, so it is very rare for me to not be online!
We would love to go again, but will need to think over the sleeping problem!
