    Family Festival!

This weekend our extended family are having their own 'festival'!
Many of the family enjoy going to music festivals over the summer. My DDs dad decide that he would arrange a family and friends camping weekend/festival of our own. He found a field owned by someone he knows. Not an official campsite, but it has kitchen and loo etc. A beautiful quiet area surrounded by trees. Most people arrived on Friday, and the rest on Saturday. The majority camped at least one night. We went on Saturday morning and left at about 11pm. Luckily it is only a 40 minute drive, so possible as a day visit. Maybe if we do it next year I will be brave and camp for one night. OH would love to! I was sorry to leave last night ,l and wished we were staying.
A lovely friendly dog and several chickens were in situ. Apparently the chickens wandered into tents if they were left open and the 2 cockerels woke everyone up early. I don't think they were anyone's favourite feature
We had an area with bouncy castle and paddling pool, a drum kit, dressing up area (for all ages!) Velcro darts, giant jenga, face painting and glitter tattoos, lots of food and drink, barbeques, music, and a screen for DVDs! A roaring campfire where potatoes were baked and marshmallows toasted, fairy lights in the trees and around several tents. It was magical and a lovely time.
GS, 2 was entranced by the fire and sat with us watching it for ages. We didn't feel he was quite ready for toasting his own marshmallows yet however!
It was heaven for the children there, playing out until late in their Onsies, has to be something to remember

That sounds absolutely wonderful. I loved camping but I would find it too hard to get off a camp bed now.

What a magical week-end, Gemini, and what a brilliant thing to do. Your DDs' dad must have worked hard to get it all arranged, but can you imagine how the children will look back on this week-end even when they're grown up. It also sounds as though it was the perfect location and the weather co-operated, too.

Ditto Daisy's comments. What a fabulous thing to do. It must have been great to be part of it Gemini.

              It was lovely
We feel so blessed to have such a lovely happy family that has grown, changed and accommodated all the changes
My DD2 was very involved in the planning, because she can't help it LOL
