    A little break booked

As we had to cancel our October beach holiday to Lanzarote we decided to book something closer to home.

Not for as long and no lovely hotel with pool and warm sea to swim in, but a nice cottage in Northumberland.
We love Northumberland, so we are happy to be going. OH is doing well on her new treatments, so feels up to going.
These dates will work around her monthly treatments, and our cat sitters are still able to come and look after them.

We will there there from Monday until Saturday in early October. Our friends A and G will be joining us for the first two nights. We will have two bedrooms and plenty of room so it will be lovely to spend some time with them.
We plan to meet up with the Omas on our last day as we head for home

I will report back after our holiday.

Gem, how lovely, even if you might be replacing swimsuits for cosy thermals. It's good to have something to look forward to, and meeting up with the Omas is a bonus!

Well doe to OH, she's coping very well, and the change will be good for her. The beauty of staying in a cottage is she can relax and have a rest if necessary.

          Thanks ladies.

Daisy, we were looking at a hotel, then decided self catering would be better and more relaxing if the weather wasn't so good - and this cottage even has use of a pool!

Gem, yes, self-catering has its advantages, and the use of a pool is a huge bonus. It sounds perfect. x

Gem, it's kind of you to take y our sitters for a Chinese tomorrow evening, and a good start to your little holiday. Isn't it lovely to eat out and not to have to think about what to cook. It's part of the holiday and very relaxing.

Eating out and fish and chips sound good options. We seem ot eat a lot of fish and chips when we're away - it's part of the holiday.

                            Time to update
Our catsitters arrived on Sunday, we all had a nice meal that night, and introduced them to the cats.
We eventually sat off the next day after many more questions about house and cats

Our journey was smooth and we arrived about half an hour before our friends.
We all went to a local pub that night and had a very good meal.
They loved the cottage and surroundings as do we.

We explored a beach the second morning. Despite a fine forecast it rained as we got onto beach and was quite windy!
As I have mentioned in Chat the hilly uneven walk on soft dunes wasn't a good choice for me and my lower back and hip (the other side to the regular problem one) became very painful the next day. They all went for a longer walk that afternoon but I opted to stay in the cottage!
That night my back wasn't bothering me luckily and we enjoyed the last evening with our friends. We ordered fish and chips from a nearby hotel and our friends collected them. We ate them with prosecco they had brought, played a few games of Rummikub and had a very jolly evening

The next day they left before lunch time. My back pain started so we didn't go out but had a day in. We had food for that night so had no need to go out. We wanted an afternoon swim but the pool was close for treatment so we couldn't. The pain subsided after a while so I felt a lot more comfortable.

This morning we had a swim in the lovely pool. We can see it from our cottage, it's hop and skip away from the front door (for those who can hop and skip )
They have a booking system which is a really fair way to ensure the pool is never crowded and no one has to share with anyone but their own party. You book a 45 minute slot in the book at the pool. We have booked another for tomorrow morning.

This afternoon we went to Seahouses and Bamburgh. We had a good drive around, walk on the beach then an ice cream in Bamburgh.
Charlie Bigham is supplying tonight's meal
