    Railcard increases

Railcards, including the Senior Railcard are set to increase.

If any of you use these cards and are due to renew, get one soon!
I was alerted to this in my weekly Travel email from Simon Calder today.
As we have to travel down to Heathrow by train in June, we need to renew our cards. As there was no Birmingham Granny trip last year we didn't bother to renew them.

Luckily we have enough Tesco Clubcard points to pay for both.

"The cost of most Railcards will rise on 2 March 2025. One year Railcards will cost £35, up from £30. Three year Railcards will cost £80, up from £70.

Regulated train fares will rise by 4.6% on the same day."

It's getting so expensive to travel now and let's face it trains now are not the most cleanest or comfortable,
That's if you can get a seat .

Rail cards are good if you travel a lot by train though.

Oma we aways had at least one London trip a year pre Covid, so it was worth it for that, plus Birmingham of course.

Once we have the railcards hopefully we will get ourselves back to London again!

Gem, everything's going up, unfortunately. Even my parking clock card for our local public car parks has shot up in price. Getting a Railcard paid for itself just going to Birmingham for me, but I didn't renew it last year.

          I'm so annoyed at myself.
Having posted this to alert others I didn't take advantage of myself!

I misremembered the date as March 10th when in fact I now realise it was 2nd
I have converted the points into vouchers but not bought the Railcards. So I have vouchers for two £30 Railcards which will in fact cost £35 each. I will have to look into what I need to do. At present we have no plans to travel by train until June so there is no point me buying them yet now I have missed deadline!

Gem, I'd be annoyed with myself too. It's so frustrating when things like that happen. At least if you don't renew it until June it will last longer into next year.
