We booked two weeks at a caravan site very close to where our dear Glamm lived on the Wirral. We've been there before and it's handy for visiting family in North Wales and friends in Stoke.
It was a good journey up with no holdups and not too much traffic. We should have known there was 'fun' ahead! We planned to put the awning up the next day as it was getting dark and we were tired. The rain started in the night, keeping us both awake. It was torrential and continued with only a couple of hours break for the next six days and nights! When we eventually got the awning up the tent pegs kept floating out of the ground. The camp site flooded and the most useful thing I'd packed were my wellies! It was so bad the friends due to visit from Stoke on the Wednesday had to turn back because of floods and near zero visibility. The second most useful thing I took was my Kindle with several new books on it.
The second week was much better and once the awning had stopped flooding it was nice to sit out there in the afternoon. I did a bit of painting, plus reading and relaxing. We visited OH's brother and family and went down to Stoke to see the friends who didn't make it to us.
So we had some lovely days but did feel a bit hard done by that first week, and it's hard to dry anything out in a caravan so coats, towels etc stayed damp. We were hoping to have some lovely days out but there's always next time!
We had a good journey back and were very glad we weren't travelling north as there were huge traffic jams, especially round the NEC in Birmingham.
Eva, as always, loved being in the caravan - she had a captive audience and more fuss than usual, plus 6 or 7 walks a day. She doesn't mind the rain or puddles, so that didn't put her off.
