    A nice late summer holiday

We have just from returned from a 9 day holiday in Majorca.
The area is Ses Illetas, a half hour or so drive from Palma airport.

We have stayed at the same hotel several times now. We love it. It is built into a cliff . It has 9 floors but you enter on floor 8, which is at ground level. First timers are always impressed bu the amazing view of the sea looking down from the large lobby windows! No beach but the sea is right there and as we both love sea swimming it's perfect for us. Add the delicious varied breakfast and dinner buffets and we are hooked

We were a bit miffed on this visit however to find that our favourite sunbathing/relaxing area has now been deemed a 'VIP area', meaning you had to pay extra to use it! First timers to the hotel would know no different but it was a blow to us and we refused to pay any more to lie we had been for free before!
Apart from that niggle we had a lovely time. Neither of us drink much but the odd bottle of wine and beer were consumed and jug of sangria one lunchtime. However I cant say we were as restrained on the food front. We are both being careful what we eat now! OH doesn't need to but she feels she does.

We swam in the sea every day and sometimes in one of the pools. The sea is our real love though. I was quite proud of myself because there are many steps from pool level to get to the sea, then some not easy to navigate wide steps metal directly into the sea. It's deep so you can't stand, just have to kind of launch yourself in from the bottom step Getting out again was a bit tricky this year with the new knee so I had to swim backward to the steps sit on the bottom one and kind of swing round ! My knee stood up to everything , although it's always bit tight and stiff after exercise. On our last day I did a very long swim. OH did half of it as she's not as confident a swimmer. I feel like a normal person in the water. If only getting about on land was as easy.
We had a trip to Palma one day as the bus stops outside the hotel. We had lunch and a mooch round. We went to C&A, but only bought a little jacket for GS3

At Palma airport a man ushered us through the preference area (for families and people with mobility problems) I didn't have my stick so was quite surprised but wasn't going to refuse a shorter queue! We had already walked a long way to reach that point. Must do more limping everyone to get preferential treatment

The morning after we got home was dull and chilly, brr! However the afternoon was sunny. We got holiday washing dried and spent a nice afternoon in DD3's garden.

A nice end to our summer.

It all sounds great, if it meets your needs, why not go back. I have to admit, I am not a sea swimmer, never was.

I know sea swimming isn't for everyone
We swim in safe bays and warm foreign waters.

Part of me would love to be taken by boat way out to sea for a little swim though! OH pointed out that I would struggle with the ladder in and out of the boat, so it will remain a dream

Gem, I love swimming off a boat provided the sea is fairly warm, and enjoy swimming off a beach - preferably in the Caribbean or Mediterranean! But I'm very out of practice with swimming and must start going regularly.
