    We've booked a holiday!

Nothing exotic, but we felt we needed a bit of a break and we had promised the GDs we'd take them away in the caravan during their school holidays.

So we're going in two weeks - 7th August - all the way to sunny Wareham. It's only about an hour or so from here, but it's a change of scenery, we've been to the site a couple of times before and it's handy for several other places which the girls will enjoy. We've just got to get the caravan ready now!

Thank you Gem. We're looking forward to relaxing and spending time with the girls, although I remembered after we'd booked that when we stayed there last year DS1 and DIL1 came to spend a day with us. It was a beautiful day and we had such a lovely time with them.

Daisy it may be bitter sweet knowing the last time you were there DS and SIL1 came over, but I hope it will be a happy holiday with the girls. You and OH certainly need it.
I hope it is the first of several getaways for you both xx

Thank you all. Yes, we do need to unwind a bit and the girls are great company. I think it will be ok remembering last year. It was just that I remembered it unexpectedly.

Memories can be very selective - When we were booking this site I couldn't recall seeing the children's playground until OH pointed out that there was only one other pitch between us and it!

Both GDs have been here today, and they are already excited. GD2 helped OH to clean the caravan today. Apparently it's the first time she's been known to willingly do housework!

GD1 helped me to shorten some curtains.

That’s consoling news. And just what you and the girls need. Wareham is lovely. I used to go there on school journey walking the walls and doing lots of geography.

Sum1, we like that area as well, and GD1 is looking forward to showing us where she did her DofE camping.

It's strangely calming to be getting the caravan ready for a trip. It's the first time this year and after the last couple of months it good to be doing something normal. OH is cleaning the windows inside and out at the moment, and I have washed all the kitchen pots, pans, cutlery and mugs, plates etc. I've gone through the cupboards and added some bits and pieces to my Sainsbury's order for tomorrow.

All the washing is done, and I've just got to do some ironing and put clothes etc in the van.

OH's car has to go in for a service tomorrow so we're trying to get as much done today as possible.
