    Off to Sherwood Forest

This weekend we are going away to a large Airbnb near Sherwood Forest.
This is a family weekend for 11 of us, to celebrate myself and OH both having a significant birthday this summer!

We are looking forward to it. I will write about it afterwards.

            Thanks everyone

The forecast is quite good for the weekend.
I have felt pretty rough the last few days, a chest infection after the cold/virus I think.
I'm pleased to say I feel better today than I have all week, so upwards and onwards! A nice relaxing weekend is just what I need.
I will write about our weekend once we are back.

We had a lovely weekend, which passed too quickly!

The airbnb was lovely. It looks like it may have been a row of cottages knocked into one. With an annex feet away from the door, renamed the Grannex by the GC as OH and I slept there
There was plenty of room for our party of 11, with large garden and courtyard areas, with a hot tub. A lovely peaceful area by the forest.

OH and I ended up being the first to arrive and the ones to collect the Tesco order (this wasn't to be our job!) Traffic was horrendous on the Friday afternoon so we were slightly late collecting the order but no one minded.
We found the cottage due to the very good directions from the owner. You head for Center Parks then take a long very bumpy private road. The directions said to keep the perimeter fence (of C Parks) on our left at all time. This fence and the landscape behind it was very Jurassic Park, and I could imagine dinosaurs lumbering towards us! Chatting later over the weekend it appears the occupants of all 4 cars had this same thought when driving along
OH brought the shopping in from the car and got all the fridge and freezer stuff put away. The manager showed me round . He told us that the wood fired hot tub took 3 hours to heat and needed the wood topping up every 15 minutes! We asked him to set it going which he did.

First night was a meal prepared by SIL3. The dining room had been decorated with balloons and birthday banners by DDs. Baby GS was put to bed, we relaxed and some went in the hot tub.

Big family breakfast next morning, then activity day! SIL2 and the older GC went to Go Ape, DDs 2 and 3 and the younger GC went to the slightly less adventurous area of it. SIL3, DD1, OH and I went with them as spectators. We took a picnic lunch and everyone enjoyed it. Quite a few pics on FB.

Barbeque and birthday cake night, and more hot tub. GS2 cried when he realised we had to leave the next day!
We all had a good time, and baby GS3 was so happy to have us all around

Sunday came, a full English breakfast together, then time to pack up and leave by 11.
DDs I, 2 and families headed home. DD, SIL and GS3 and we headed to Sherwood Forest Park where we had a lovely day, and lunch in the cafe, and drive home mid afternoon.

A great joint birthday weekend. I feel very lucky.
