    Your fantasy day out

Let's face it - we're all fed up with winter and the weather in general. Most of us feel more like hibernating than having a jaunty day out.

But put your thinking cap on and conjure up that dream day. Don't worry about distance, cost or practicalities, this is a day dream.

    I'll start!

I'd wake up in a luxurious (but homely) hotel. Have a leisurely swim in the gentle warmth of the indoor pool, followed by 10 minutes in the steam room, then a massage with luxurious scented essential oils. Shower, and into breakfast. I'd have freshly squeezed orange juice, a luxury muesli with yoghurt and fresh fruit, perfectly poached egg on sourdough toast, and a pot of delicious coffee.

We'd be teleported to Paris, for a stroll by the Seine, stopping for more coffee at a pavement cafe, and watch the world go by for a while. Then we'd be teleported (this IS fantasy) to a Caribbean island (Cuba or the Bahamas) for an hour or so on a deserted beach with white sand and turquoise ocean. Just a light lunch of Caribbean fruit, and maybe a rum cocktail, served on the beach.

A short siesta and we'd wake up in the San Juan Islands (off the coast of north America) and step back in time to browse round the workshops of talented artists, potters and other craft workers. Teleported again to Florida, the Gulf coast, for dinner beachside in Naples, watching the sun go down. To end the day, we'd find ourselves watching a show with undiscovered but very talented singers, dancers, musicians and comedians, and end the day back at our dream hotel.

Gem, it's a nice bit of escapism for a cold wet day.
