    Majorca

In 2020, in the first lockdown, we promised ourselves a holiday in our favourite hotel once it was over. Little did we know how long it would all last. It's not over as we all know, but a more or less normal life has resumed for most of us.

Our original flight was due in at 6pm yesterday. It was changed to a later time meaning we didn't land until after 8.30. With many flights cancelled over the summer, this wasn't much to complain about really. We missed dinner but they had saved a mixed cold platter and fruit, so that was fine. The hotel always offers a glass of champagne on arrival as your bags are taken to your room, so the relaxation began!

DD3 had an unexpected operation as we were flying, which didn't lead to a relaxing start! Once we landed I heard all was well however

After a good night's sleep in the very comfortable bed, we started our first full day.

I expect many of our days to be similar, so I probably won't post here every day!

We enjoyed a good buffet breakfast then changed into swimwear and went down to the pool. We choose sunbeds overlooking the sea and read, chatted and What'sApped with the family whilst our food settled.

We swam in the pool, then in the sea, which was so warm! We have always been in June or July before. The late August sea seems much warmer!
Late lunch in the poolside bar, then sunbeds the rest of the afternoon ( totally in the shade in my case) I read and people watched and had a little nap

DD3 went home during the afternoon so that was good news indeed.

We went in for our showers then had a cup of tea and a game of Scrabble on the balcony. We brought our trusty travel Scrabble with us.

Then changed and down to dinner.
Now we are in our PJs, having a coffee, chatting and watching TV. And in my case going on GRU!

Tomorrow will probably follow a similar pattern.

    Good night everyone!

Gem - it sounds perfect and just what you need to completely relax and unwind.

I imagine the sea is a lot warmer than here - a neighbour who wild swims regularly says the sea here is "really warm, about 22C"!!! I hope your bit of the Med is more like 32!

Enjoy yourselves - I bet we're all a little bit envious. xxx

Majorca is lovely WG! The people always seem so friendly too.

Today was very like yesterday. Sea and pool swims, reading, chatting. We missed out lunch though and just had snacks.
Looking forward to my dinner tonight

              A variation today!
We still swam in the sea ( both of us) and the pool ( just me, mainly to cool down)
At lunch time we had a walk down the hill and had lunch in a cafe bar. We looked in a couple of shops and I bought myself a new beach/poolside bag and a small canvas shoulder bag with a star on for DD2 who loves anything with stars on. This was to be part of her Christmas presents

Time to get ready for dinner soon.

Well, we are back and had a lovely time.
Lovely stress free journey home. After America I think anything is going to seem easy however!

I missed family, especially the new baby, and real time with friends (online is good though!)

I will miss the sea, especially swimming in it. I will miss having lovely food and no need to cook any of it. By the last day I must confess I was a little tired of buffet food and was ready for 'normal' eating at home though.

It does us good to have a complete change. But it's also good to come back home to family and friends. I'm so glad you enjoyed yourself despite the worry when you were travelling out there. Have you booked your next holiday yet?

That sounds good. Somewhere new or a place you're revisiting? And not on a canal?
