    Caravan Holiday

For various reasons, including lockdowns, COVID and other factors, we haven't used our caravan for nearly three years. I'm getting desperate for a bit of a break, so OH said he'd clean it up today and we'd book somewhere fairly local (the Jurassic coast is a favourite) for 4 or 5 nights and just go.

What we hadn't realised until he took the cover off the tow hitch was that we had squatters! A nest full of very tiny baby robins with a lovely cosy nest in the A-frame, kept dry and cosy by the weather-proof cover. We gently replaced the cover and watched from a distance to make sure the parents were around and have shelved all thoughts of holidays for about a month!

You both deserve a break. As soon as the robins have fledged,GO.

What a shame, but what else could you do.

Well Daisy that's better than the family of mice my mum's neighbours found living in theirs last summer!

I'm very glad you are planning to get something booked

Daisy, how lovely, a nest of robins!

I mentioned the Japanese garden in Den Haag, well worth a visit and only open 6 weeks in the spring, well, not this year as there is a sparrow hawk nesting in the garden so they are not allowed visitors.

What a lovely find Daisy. At least the caravan has been used for something while you were unable to go away!

Clover - I really don't begrudge the robins their home, but they could have had it anytime in the last 3 years.

Lizzie - that must have hit the Japanese garden takings quite hard. But I bet the chicks are lovely.

Daisy, it is an open park so the only places that will lose out are the restaurants in the park.

Lizzie - do people try and watch the sparrow hawks and their babies from outside the park? I feel sorry for the restaurant owners, especially if it becomes a regular thing with the birds.

Daisy, it is a massive park, this is the site, the Japanese garden is just a small part of it all.

Lizzie - the park looks wonderful. I bet the Azalea and Rhododendron garden is nearly at its peak of colour now. We have a wonderful garden near us called Exbury Gardens, and between now and about the end of the second week in May is it simply glorious with the Azelias and Rhododendrons in full bloom.
