    Holiday in Cornwall with family

After a very comfortable 5 hour journey we arrived at our holiday house. There are nine adults and two little ones. As it was a BB house before, every bedroom has a bathroom and the kitchen diner is huge. I have spent most of the time in the lovely sunroom, with a view of the sea? Yesterday the family went down to the beach and today they went for a long cliff top walk. DIL and DS are staying a short drive away, they came and picked me up and we had a meal out, well really we bought pasties and sat in the market square and ate them.

GS1 and his wife are cooking dinner this evening, GS2 and is newly engaged partner cooked a lovely pasta meal last evening, tonight it is a fish dish, it is a very good restaurant. Breakfast and lunch is a free for all.

Plant - what an idyllic spot- and the in-house restaurant sounds wonderful. I hope the weather is being kind. Have a great time.

Family spent most of today on the beach as it is such a lovely day with a cool breeze. Just baby O who is having a nap, her mother and myself in the house atm. I had my walk down to the beach cafe, looked at the bus timetable and decided I will catch the bus to Sennen beach tomorrow, just a short ride away. I considered doing a round trip to St Ives but I think the family would be a bit concerned if I was away most of the day. GD2 and her partner have just returned from a swim. The two children have been a delight. GD and her partner are cooking this evening so that will be a very tasty vegetarian dish.

Plant - I'm so glad the weather has picked up for you. I haven't been to St Ives for about 20 years. I wonder if it's changed much - got more commercialised.

Enjoy your trip to Sennen beach tomorrow.

Glad you’re having a good time Plant, doing your own thing when it suits and joining in with the family at other times.

Took the bus to Sennen Cove this morning, it goes via L ands End. Visited the Lifeboat shop and bought my C hristmas cards and a calendar and some bits for the c hildren. Only DD and SIL here today, the others have gone to St Ives. Can't believe it is our last day tomorrow, we are booked to have lunch out so we don't have to cook tomorrow. I would have liked to have go ne to Penzance on the bus but will not be able to fit that in. DD and SIL have been down to the beach this morning, having a quiet time now before the others return. It is a very interesting place here, the Cable and Wireless company owned the beach and several of the houses were occupied by employees. JUst close to us there is a museum telling the story of how the Cable and Wireless company laid cables under the sea to countries all over the world for communication and was involved in the war. WHen the company left here they gave the beach to the National Trust. If you ever get a chance to come down here you would find it very interesting and beautiful. The wild flowers and the gardens are really beautiful, lots of plants you don't see elsewhere. ONce you get passed Penzance, it is just farms and narrow lanes full of wild flowers, lovely until you meet a bus. I am going home with DS and Dil who are staying nearby but we are having one night in Devon. I have been well and truly spoiled.

Plant - I'm so glad you've enjoyed your holiday, and you seem to have packed a lot in.

Interesting about the Cable & Wireless work during the War. My Dad worked for them laying cables across the Derbyshire Moors to take electricity to outlying villages, but mainly to farms - needed for the War effort.

Have a safe journey tomorrow and a lovely evening and night in Devon. xx
