    The Cat Cafe!

    Last week my youngest daughter and I visited the cat cafe in York. We had a lovely time. It is a really good environment for the cats, who are all rescue cats, or cats whose owners couldn't keep them.
    Peaceful, quiet, harmonious! A haven for cats, and cat lovers

    We booked our hour and enjoyed spending time with the cats, and some coffee and delicious cake.
    My GD has asked if we can go. I will be delighted to take her, and as children under 10 are not admitted, she is the right age. She is a quiet gentle girl who loves and understands cats, so I have no issue with taking her.

      Nan2, apparently he loves to be in reception! He just fixes you with this long calm stare as if assessing you for suitability for entering a cat cafe

        Gem, what a lovely idea. I have heard of cat cafes but never had chance to visit one. Are they all indoor cats? I'm sure they think they've landed in heaven - warm, cosy, and lots of loving attention.

        I hope the Receptionist gets paid well in delicious kitty treats for all his hard work.

          Yes Daisy they are indoor cats. It is a large 3 story building, with lots of stairs, plus little shelves which are like cat stairs on the walls, lots of toys, plenty space to run around and to keep them occupied. Several were sleeping in beds on the large padded window seat overlooking the street so they can look out

          I don't really like cats to be indoor cats as being free is what cats love. However, this wonderful life compared to being neglected or abandoned makes up for the lack of going out .

              Gem - it sounds as though the resident cats are very well catered for, although I do agree, ideally cats need to roam and hunt.


              A few months ago I saw an interesting idea for indoor cats. This lady who had two Burmese (I think) was living in a ground floor flat but right on a very busy crossroads, so clearly not safe for her cats to be roaming outside. It was an old building with sash windows and she had built a sort of balcony for them, jutting out into the fresh air and protected by wire mesh so the cats couldn't actually get out, but they could get on to this little balcony and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.
