    New Zealand Cruise

I am feeling very excited and a little nervous. Yesterday I booked a cruise around New Zealand. I will be leaving on 5th January. I’m flying to Sydney, Australia staying overnight there and then cruising to, and around New Zealand. Then back to Sydney to fly home. Three weeks altogether.
I have never actually been on holiday completely on my own before, so I will be well out of my comfort zone. I don’t do things by halves!
I am really looking forward to meeting up with my nephew/godson and his family there. They live in Tauranga and that is one of the ports we stop in. It will be only for a day, but I can’t wait. They emigrated to NZ two years ago. I talk to them frequently on face time but it’s not the same. My nephew and his wife have three little boys. A five year old and twins who will be three in February. The five year old remembers me but the twins were only babies when they left. To them I am just an auntie on the iPad.
    The weather should be good!

Sunshine - how brilliant. And brave! But I know you'll be totally fine and will quickly make friends on the cruise.

It will be so exciting to see D and his family and I'm sure his Mum will love getting some first-hand news about their lives in NZ.

Also how lovely to escape 3 weeks of the British winter.

All your GRU friends will be expecting regular updates on what you're doing and the amazing places you'll see.

    Well done, you. xxx

Wow Sunshine, that’s some cruise. Sounds wonderful and so lucky to be able to meet up with family if only for a short time. I guess that’s one of the reasons for picking this particular cruise.New Zealand is somewhere I would love to visit and I love cruising.

Sunshine, how exciting . Just what is needed after the festive season an escape from the winter for a few weeks .
SIL and NIL went to New Zealand for a month last winter and they loved it.
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Thankyou everyone. I’m sure I will be fine. I’m a seasoned cruiser, so that will be wonderful. The flight is a bit scary. I don’t mind flying. I’ll just have to make sure I get on the correct plane. Ha ha. It goes straight through from Heathrow to Sydney with a touchdown for an hour and a half in Singapore to refuel. We can get off the plane to stretch our legs so that will be good.
I spoke to my nephew on FaceTime last night. He is already planning what we will do for the day in Tauranga. I just want to see them again. The five year old, Cohen, was bouncing about telling me he is coming to the port with his daddy to collect me. He is keen to see the ‘giant’ ship. Oooooo, so exciting.
