    Norfolk Holiday

There are 58 people on this NT holiday. So far it has been very enjoyable.

Day 1 We made a stop on the way to our hotel in Ely to visit the Cathedral. What an amazing Cathedral, the stained glass windows and the painted ceiling went on and on. We, myself and three friends found a nice cafe in the high street for lunch before rejoining the coach to continue our journey to the hotel where we were staying for six nights. My room is on the ground floor so very convenient.

Day Two, we made our way to Horning to catch a a train on the Bure Valley Rainway, our coach met us at Aylesham to continue our journey to The Blickling Estate, a Jacobean House. My friends and I walked around the gardens before viewing the amazing house. Coach was the waiting to take us back to the hotel. As we were back early, I decided to go for a swim in the pool. Lovely and warm.

Today we have been to Thursford Collection, which contained lots of steam engines, old fairground rides and we were entertained by a gentleman playing an organ. Christmas time they have an amazing journey to see Father Christmas and they have a Christmas Show. All this is undercover. I expect some of you have experienced this amazing place. No time for a swim this evening before my G&T time.

Tomorrow is a free day in Norwich, we are to catch a park and ride bus from across the road from the hotel. Not sure what my friends and I will do there.

Goodness know how much weight I am putting on, we are eating a good breakfast, followed by lunch and then dinner. I am not too impressed with the starters and sweet so trying to eat mainly veg and fish.

The trip sounds well organised Plant, from the breakfasts to G&T time! 😆 Enjoy.

Sounds lovely, Plant. We spent a week in Norfolk at the end of March and had a splendid time. The beauty of the churches was breathtaking. If you go to Norwich the Cathedral is splendid and has a cat called Budge because she won’t budge from the warmest places. She has her own Twitter account!

Today was a free day, chance to go into Norwich. We caught the bus from outside the hotel about 9.30 and we have just returned very tired. We visited the Cathedral, amazing building, we met and stroked Budge Sum. We then went to the Lanes and the Market. After lunch we decided to visit the museum holding the local history collection. That was very interesting and informative, didn't know Norwich was known for Colman's Mustard, Startrite shoes, Rowntrees Chocolate and beautiful Jacquard cloth. Too late to swim unfortunately so I thought I would write the diary. Tomorrow we are visiting Langham Glass near Fakenham and then on to Holkham Hall, near Wells-Next-The-Sea. Haven't heard from home telling me the baby has arrived. Soon be G&T time.

What a lovely day. So glad you met Budge, she’s gorgeous isn’t she? And Norwich is a stunning,y beautiful city. If I wasn’t a Londoner, I’d choose to live there. Enjoy your G&T x

Feeling. Bit shattered, we visited Langham Glass this morning and watched a demo, they are so clever. Bought a glass mushroom. We then travelled. To Holkham Hall, a wonderful Palladian Hall, a privately owned house. How different it was from the NT houses, the family still live there. Apparently it is one of England's ten greatest houses. Gala dinner this evening, not sure what that means except we are going to be in a private room. Still no news of the expected baby.

Sounds like a fantastic holiday. You’ll need another to recover from this one. Ha ha

This is my last post, we go home tomorrow. Today was spent on the Broards. We had an hour and half ride on the Mississippi Paddle Boat from Horning. We then drove to Fairhaven woodland and water garden, more walking. I did one of the broad walks to the lake, we returned to get lunch, then my three friends went off again to walk some more routes, I sat in the sun and had an ice cream. Just started some packing and then it will be dinner soon, just time for a G&T. I must say the organizers of the trip have been amazing. Message from GS said the baby's head isn't engaged yet. We shall be home about 4.30 tomorrow.
