    Swinton Bivouac

We had a lovely day out there yesterday.
Our friends took us. They are very good at finding interesting things to do which are either free or inexpensive.
This is free, unless you eat at the cafe, which we did. You could easily picnic and spend nothing however.
A druid temple of standing stones, in the countryside. There are a few yurts and long cabins too. Fields and woods all around, we walked for miles!
The fresh air, exercise and good company were a tonic.
We had coffee in the cafe on arrival and a lovely and very welcome late lunch before heading home.

Discover one of Yorkshire's most interesting follies. Explore the Druid's Temple, located in the woods at Swinton Bivouac.

It is a lovely area Gem we go quite often, my friend Clare that died a couple of years ago has a bench there in the castle grounds and it’s where her ashes were scattered so know the place well

Have you not heard of Swinton Castle Nan2 ? It’s all part of the Swinton Estate , Prue Leith has a cookery school there

I'd never heard of it either, but at lest I'm not a Yorkshire lass!!

It looks fascinating, and with the sun shining it must have been lovely, Gem. Do you think it could look a bit spooky on a dull or stormy day?
