    Celebration for next year

Ladies I shall be 70 next April , I know I don’t look it do I 👵 I don’t normally celebrate big birthdays but seeing as the next big one will be 80 who knows what state I will be in or if I will even be here. So I thought I would just treat immediate family to a weekend away, unfortunately it falls at Easter and need it to be school hols too , I’ve looked at coastal hotels I want somewhere nice don’t mind paying the extra bob or two, thought about the Lake District but the weather could be a problem at Easter and I have to think of the grandchildren and what to do with them, liked the idea of treating us all to afternoon whilst away , I know ladies darn sarf won’t be able to help as I am up north , but if anyone can thing of anything let me know I’m building a portfolio lol

Qwerty - what a lovely idea! You're catering for quite a variety of needs, and unless you're jetting off to the sun the weather could be dodgy anywhere at Easter. Are you looking at hotels etc that have indoor facilities to cater for lively children?

Is there anything similar to the Manor House Sports Hotel in Devon? The rooms are just basic and the food is tasty but unadventurous but there's so much to do there for everybody. I realise it's too far for you, but just thought there might be something similar up your end of the country.

Good luck with your research - let us know what you find.

Qwerty, you will never look 70
Lovely idea to celebrate with family. I would love it too.

I can't recommend Doxford Cottages enough. Fab top quality cottages, from one to 4 bedrooms. Best we have ever stayed in. We have stayed on our own in a one bedroom, and with friends in a 4 bedroom.
There is a games room, field they can play on, and DVDs you can borrow. A lovely lake with swans. Not too far from beaches. Tesco will deliver to your cottage, or you can book home cooked meals to be delivered.

Not long till my 80th, I have booked a Raymond Blanc restaurant on the Sunday for lunch. So far only GS2 will not be there, he is away.

Your celebration sounds good Qwerty, how far would you want to travel?

I was looking for a hotel where all facilities like swimming pool children’s club and food laid on no cooking and no cleaning as such , q and such as last Easter it rained the whole of Easter
Daisy it’s too far to go for a weekend, but it’s just the sort of place I am looking for , I can’t see that there is a chain of hotels just another one but still down sarf
Gem I liked the cottages too but Easter week you have to go for a week I was looking at 2/3 days, your right though a wide range of ages from 4 to 72 and all the others in between
I will keep looking think it’s a bit early yet no bookings seem to be taken yet that far in advance

Qwerty - if you are ancient, what about me and Plant? Are you telling us we're very ancient!!!!

I'm quite surprised the Manor Hotel model hasn't been copied by any other hotels in the country. It's so perfect for family groups, whatever the weather. I hope you can find something similar. There's another hotel I thought of - it's very near us (so too far for you). It's basically a spa hotel but really caters for children with various facilities and things like children's teas at 5 pm etc, and being in the middle of the Forest as well there are lots of outdoor options to run off the children's energy. There must be something similar somewhere ooop north - I hope.

I have put online hotels with children’s facilities in the north of England but nothing as yet , I think they are missing out on a gap in the market

And me Daisy!! Positively geriatric 🤸🏽‍♂️

Qwerty, what a lovely idea. We’ve had some lovely weekends at Centre Paris with our family, lots for kiddies to do and lovely surroundings, Is there anything like that near you? We went with DS, DD, and DILs parents with the kiddies and had a lovely big lodge complete with our own sauna on the balcony. Another time we had two separate lodges next door to each other, great fun. Nice restaurants in site too. 🏊🏼‍♂️ 🧗🏼‍♀️ 🚣🏽‍♀️🤹‍♂️

Oh yes, Center Parks! DD1 and family have been a couple of times and loved it. I think it may be all self catering though and you want a hotel don't you Qwerty?
