    Italy

Next year we are thinking of going to Italy.
Probably on a 3 centre trip to Rome, Florence and Venice.
The only one I have been to is Rome, OH hasn't been to Italy at all.
Friends have good things to say about Florence and Venice, and I would love to go back to Rome.

Has anyone been to any of these places?

We went to Italy in the early nineties. We stayed in Lido de Jesolo, which was all the rage then.
One day,we took a boat trip to Venice. We actually met Michael Palin there.
    We did like Venice though.
A few years later we went to Rome, when we were on one of the cruises.
I fell in love with Rome.Hubby's description of Rome was it's a dump.
To a certain extent i had to agree with a him, but as i say i loved Rome.
It was great to see all the sights, that we had only seen on TV or in magazines.

Florence is lovely, Gem and also Venice. I really liked Verona, smaller than Venice and of course home to Juliet. We’ve been to Venice twice and when we were there the second time we visited Murano and Burano, two little islands very nearby, really lovely.

We have been to several parts of Italy, Sorrento is beautiful , Florence is lovely but this is where we were charged £38 for two ice creams 😲 Rome was interesting but like all these places touristy and not to clean we thought ,

We did those three cities one year Gem, travelling between them by train. We used Kirker to arrange travel and hotels. Each city was different, but I think Florence was my favourite. The others were very busy and touristy and I never felt 100% comfortable. My favourite place in Italy has to be Portofino.....magical!

We went to Rome in June and stayed in an Airbnb close to the Vatican. We also stayed in Pompeii for a couple of nights before going to Sicily for a week. So much to see that we are thinking about another trip.

I forgot about Naples. We only had ½ a day there though.
                    That was on another cruise.

I've never been, so can't offer any advice, but would be interested to know what you decide and why.
