    Flower deliveries

Slightly off topic, as this is a request rather than a recommendation!

My mums dearest and oldest friend has recently came home after a long stay in hospital. With a care package at least for now, and quite frail, but at least she is home.
She is a lovely lady and I would like to send her some flowers. A basket arrangement so she she doesn't have to fiddle with vases.

In the past I have used Interflora a few times, and e florist. I have received flowers from Next, M&S and Tesco at different times.
I just wondered what peoples's recommendations were, if any?

Gem - I can't recommend a specific florist, but I recently received two lovely, ready arranged - and so easy - bouquets - one in a vase, the other in a jug. Both these can be used again, but were much easier to care for than a basket, especially seeing when the water needs topping up. Just a thought! I'm sure whichever florist you choose they will give your mum's friend a lot of pleasure.

Gemini I have always found M&S always a good choice when ever ordering for someone else, but the last time I ordered for a friend I did go to an independant florist and was very very pleased so I think a bit of a groundwork needs to be done for something so special my friend.xx

Gem I find you get a better deal with a local florist , you can chose the blooms and what you want them put in , I sent some flowers and our florist put them in a pretty vintage tin jug no need for a vase and the jug could be used later . local florist tend to be much cheaper too.

Hmmm, I hadn't thought of just approaching a local florist. There is one in the adjoining village. I think it is closed for Bank Holiday but I may pop in tomorrow. They would only have to travel a couple of miles to deliver them.
          Thanks

I used our local florist for my my friend's funeral flowers as Oma said you can discuss what you want and personalise it, that is good for local deliveries.

Gems just a word of advice don't order flowers straight after the week-end as you may get the ones sat all week-end when the shop has been closed and not as fresh as they could be Wednesday/Thursday are the popular days for fresh blooms to come into the Flower Markets where local florists buy their stock.

I too would go for something other than a basket. Mum always overwatered her flowers which resulted in a wet patch under the basket. My last success came from Next. Small arrangement but just right. I'm sure whatever you choose will be appreciated.
