    Olbas oil

Thinking about my recent cold, the second this winter, makes me think of Olbas Oil.
This is something I really would not be without. At night I put a few drops on a tissue on my pillow when I have a blocked nose and in the day time have a similar tissue to sniff. It works really well.
You can also put a few drops in hot water and inhale the steam.

I can remember the smell of this from school, everyone seemed to use it.
          I have never bought any,but don't why.

I only discovered it a few years ago and love it. I love the smell of it even if I haven't got a cold. In fact it's better then because I get a stronger blast of it.

An odd story about Olbas oil...
I have used it from being quite young. When I was in my late 20s a teenage girl from down the street turned up with a tiny ginger kitten, the last of a litter, saying her auntie was going to have this kitten put down if they couldn't find a home for it. We didn't really want, or were able to afford, another cat but you can't refuse can you? He developed cat flu while still a kitten and could hardly breath and his little eyes were running. I kept him in a bed away from the other cat and in desperation put a drop on Olbas oil on a cloth near him, and repeated every day. That cat become my darling and lived another happy and healthy 14 years. It may or may not have been the oil, but I have always believed it was

Always have a bottle in my bedside drawer. Seems to help when OH is snoring though he hates menthol type scent so have to wait until he is asleep before sprinkling it on his pillow!

Shem - what a brilliant idea - OH had a really snorrey night last night and I was thinking of waking him with a rolling pin at one point, but Olbas Oil might be the kinder option!

Gem - awww, that was one lucky little kitten. What a lovely story, and I'm sure it was the Olbas oil and your TLC that made him better.
