On the news this morning they were full of sympathy for her and one person said that these days she would have been treated as an abused child as a) her stepfather sexually abused her and b) she was only 19 when she got lured into that world. She was a very pretty girl

        RIP Christine.

I think the last years of her life were rather sad. As Zizi said she would have been treated differently today - it's hard to remember just how judgmental for world was 50 years ago.

What I do think was thoughtless was some of the papers show pictures of her as a beautiful young lady and the show the last pictures of her trundling alongside in baggy clothes and looking very downcast under captions obviously meant to describe how far she fell. How many of us, fifty years on, would still be looking glamorous?

I agree Zizi - it's cheap and rather nasty journalism, imho.
