I know it wasn’t unexpected but I feel really sad. I have a great deal of respect for the Queen And I believe he was a great support to her throughout her long reign. RIP sir.

Very sad news, even if it wasn't totally unexpected. I'm sure the Queen will be brave and dignified as she always is, but my heart goes out to her. Prince Philip has given our country long and loyal service while still maintaining his own individuality and character.

Such sad news. I feared for his recovery while he had a months stay at hospital. I was relieved when he came home. I really hoped he would reach his 100th birthday, but it wasn’t to be. The queen has another horrible situation to get through. I am sure she will deal with it with the dignity she always shows.

He has left a great legacy to the young boys and girls with his Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. I do hope Harry pops back to comfort the Queen and be with his family at this sad time.
