I think it was take decades (if ever) for the American mindset to change over guns. How many people do you know in the UK who own guns? I know there are still illegally kept guns here, but in the US people carry them as a matter of routine. You see guns advertised to fit in to a lady's purse (handbag). Children see that their parents carry them and they learn to shoot at an early age. It goes right through the culture of American society.
