A change of position may help prevent stillbirth

This was in the news a day or two ago.
Anything which helps prevent the tragedy of a stillbirth has to be a good thing.

However I can't see that this is new news!
I have always known that laying on your back when very pregnant presses on the aorta. I remember lying in the ante natal clinic waiting for the consultant, thinking 'it's not right to leave us lying flat on our back like this, it's not safe!'

I saw this on the news yesterday. They sais if you change position onto your back while you are asleep, it's ok.

I hadn't heard of this before, but anything that reduces the tragedy and heartache of a stillbirth is worth doing.

Mimi - your midwife sounds a bit scary. They were a different breed then, weren't they. I had one who told me my baby wouldn't thrive because I was breastfeeding him! But it sounds as though yours knew a thing or two.

Daisy some of the midwives back then where very scary indeed I can remember when my youngest sister was born (she was an after thought for my parents) my dad was a 6' 3" docker and she was a small Irish Midwife she told him off when she arrived for a home birth and he didn't have enough towels ready for her he was putty in her hands poor man.

I hadn’t heard of this either though it was suggested we sleep on our side with a pillow under the higher knee! I still sleep like that now!
