    Womens pension age

This has been in the news again. it is one of the things which makes me very cross.
Friends just a couple of years older than OH and I have had their pension, bus pass etc since the age of 60, while we have to wait until we are 66. I know many other ladies on here are similarly affected, but with two of us, it is a double whammy!

But the IFS says increasing the state pension age has given the public purse a £5.1bn a year boost.

The government says that we have to work longer because we are living longer & youth unemployment is going up when I started working what ever job it was you started at the bottom and worked up that left a entry level for a school leavers should we go back to that way ?

You're right, Granma2aj. I started as an Office Junior after college, and stayed there for 2 years, before getting a 'proper' secretarial job. I had to make the tea, run the errands, operate the switchboard, keep the petty cash and postage books, use the ink duplicator (showing my age!) and loads of other really boring things. But it was good experience.

There were a lot of factories and school leavers did 3 or 5 year apprentices for the various trades.

Being a bit older than you Gem, i got my pension 1 month after my 61st birthday. Only lost out by a year.
        That was 5 years ago.

I've got to count myself very lucky as I only had to wait until the March after my birthday in September 2010 so I only lost 6 mths in total but I still had a mega moan about that as my contributions where all paid up to date from when I started work at 16 in the old GPO (now BT) at the top of Bold Street in Liverpool,I was also the general dogsbody until I qualified to go onto direct enquiries when I was 18,that was classed as a job for life in those days as they allowed you to go back after you where married some companies used to expect you to stop working once you had a hubby to look after,do you remember that ?
