It has been announced that Charlies parents have given up their fight to take the baby to the States for treatment. The American doctor involved has said that it is too late for him to have the nucleoside therapy they were pinning their hopes on.
It seems time has run out for this little boy.
You can't help but have the greatest sympathy for his parents.

My only hope is that Charlie's mum and dad can spend whatever time they have left with Charlie in peace, knowing that they tried everything possible to help him, and when the inevitable happens they will gain comfort in their grief and move on without bitterness of any kind.
