This is terrible news. All floors of the 120 story building from the 2nd floor upwards were involved, with many fatalities

    Let's hope this wasn't terrorism.

No fire escape?Only one exit? How did that happen I wonder...

Yes Plant and rightly so by the sounds of it , the council ignored all their safety concerns and shoddy materials used on the outside cladding , shocking isn't it

Those poor people , how frightening must that have been .
Its hard to believe that in this day and age that basic health and safety issues were lacking when it came to this building . The local council has a lot of questions to answer

I know it is early days as yet but people are stating that the plastic cladding on the outside of the building has been called into question re safety aspects.I have noticed that some of the high rise flats that have been modernised up here also have similar coating outside,it gives the effect of the building being wrapped in Corporate Colours relating to the Housing Association,I bet a lot of Councils are upping their game and doing through inspections after this tragedy if not why not?? I wonder how long it will be before we find out exactly how many poor souls perished today its unbearable to think about it.

It's horrific, all those poor people. The eye witness accounts are just too awful to hear. How will they get over this.

There are a few flats here with that plastic cladding on , but they are not high rise flats ,just three stories high but never the less if its a fire risk the cladding should be removed. Apparently one of the reasons of putting the cladding on was so that the flats look smarter . They have been done with the social housing colours . I would be contacting the social housing landlord if I lived there

I heard someone on the radio saying that rather than spending money on cosmetic updates it would have been better spent on a sprinkler system throughout the block.
Seeing the smoke billowing out of the flats reminded me of those terrible images of the Twin Towers attack.
I feel so.so sorry for those poor people, obviously those who have lost their lives and their loved ones but also those who have lost their homes and all their possessions.
