    One Love concert in Manchester

The survivors of last weeks Ariana Grande concert were all invited to this.

Despite misgivings, DD2s best friend's 10 year old daughter has gone. Instead of going with her friend and friend's mum and dad as at the original concert, this time her own mum is going, so the 2 mums and girls.

I think it is very soon for 10 year old who is still quite traumatised and DD and I hoped they wouldn't go. Hopefully all will be well, and this little girl and all the other concert goers will feel better, not worse, for this experience.

Yes I agree , very soon after such a dramatic thing to happen . They are after all only little girls '
Watching it and some of the singing is horrendous without all the backing stuff ,some are so out of key and flat

There has been some screeching stuff I agree, but then it's not aimed at our generation is it

There has been some nice stuff, and it's nice to see them happy. I think Ariana Grande seems a sweetheart

No idea who the woman on the piano was but god her voice was flat , I didn't rate Robbie Williams either and I love him . But as long as the young ones had a good time after all it was for them wasn't it .

I'm thinking of Lucy now as this time at the other concert, when she was leaving was when it all happened. I hope she is coping and they all get out and home safely/

I agree - Imogen was flat, so was Liam Gallagher! I didn't see it all, but just looking at what a huge event it was and how quickly it was all put together, it was incredible. I imagine there are all sorts of issues for the sound engineers with this type of event, and there was probably no time for rehearsal, so all in all I thought it was mostly good.

I was impressed that Ariana Grande came on stage to join in with the school choir when the tiny little girl soloist was overcome with emotion.

Gem - I hope the little girl was ok and she will take happy memories away from this evening. x

We didn't watch the concert either but looking at replays this am on TV things seem to have been well organised at such short time and so true many of the performers are as flat as a pancake sounds quite painful really.
Gems I do hope your GDs friend enjoyed the night and it brightened her up after such a trumatic week,to be honest I don't think the reality will sink in with youngsters for a while so if I where a parent I would watch them closely for the foreseeable future xx

                        Thanks everyone.
This little girl , as well as the trauma of the original Ariana Grande concert and all she saw that night, lost her Grandma to cancer 3 weeks previously. A lot for a10 year old in a short time. Her mum, my DDs closest friend, is a fantastic caring understanding one, so she will get the best support.

I find it hard to criticize the concert in all honestly. It was organised quickly all were brave to go throught with it in Manchester especially only hours after the latest London atrocities. I admire all who performed and attended.
Over 2 million was raised for victims families.

Gem - I totally agree about admiring all who were involved, whether they performed, attended or were behind the scenes, and I was imagining what the technical difficulties might have been. There is usually time for technical rehearsals - sound, lights etc, but they only started preparing for the event on Friday - and every performer has different requirements. It was an amazing achievement on every level.

I have to say watching the concert it felt like a healing process or a therapeutic feeling , I too couldn't understand most of the music ,old age I guess. I loved the Over the Rainbow song that Ariana sang it completed a well thought out concert, I didn't feel it was too soon it needed to happen the kids are resilient and their mind taken off the horrific previous concert and that all concerts are not like that one it, it was good that the mum of the 8 yr old that died approved of it and it's what Olivia would have wanted. Hopefully lots of money donated to help these families .
