    This is despicable
Not only did women have unnecessary surgery, and all the physical and emotional repercussions of that, they also had needless worry in some cases.
His 'cleavage saving' mastectomies sound bizarre and downright dangerous.
The point of a mastectomy is the removal of the whole breast. Reconstruction , should they choose it, is what gives those women a cleavage

I'm am equally shocked that nobody seemed to realise that he was performing totally unnecessary surgery on these poor victims.

I am at a point after reading everything that this deranged man has done how anyone else has not seen the scans during any consultations and questioned them ? What will happen with the compensation side of things in the future will this man and his private practice hold enough insurance to cover all the claims that are sure to follow or will the NHS be liable if the patients have been referred to him under the NHS system it is really scary that he has got away with this for so long.

I totally agree Glamm surely someone must have had doubts about him and voiced their concerns .
I think more will come out about this man and his practices .
How must those poor women feel about this person they put their health and trust in .
            Gem Bizarre indeed

I realized after my first laser surgery that it was known, certainly in the local area, that the surgeon was a disaster. I tried to speak to my gp but she insisted he was the only dr in the country who could deal with my surgery. Complete load of tosh but, at that time, there was little info on the internet and I had no choice but to continue and have lived to seriously regret it. When I changed consultants I was stunned to overhear the gynae say "that should never have been done" and the dermatologist said "it's not the first and won't be the last!" Why do they think you can't hear them when they are the other side of a curtain? Bizarre!

The doctor who reported the Bristol babies heart surgeon had to leave the country because the medical profession ganged up on him! They take the code of watching each other's backs to a dangerous degree sometimes. Their first loyalty should be to their patients. If they know about a serious problem and don't report it they should be liable.

Do I understand that you suffered in his hands Shemadee. Why are these doctors allowed to get away with this for so long, I read today that he operated inappropriately on a a 16 year old. Does this mean we should always demand a second opinion.

Shem - that is appalling. Any doctor's first responsibility to his or her patient is to do no harm. They are all taught that from Day 1.
