    Cyber attack

Now this is something that scares me.Not just this particular attack but the potential it highlights. Everything these days is controlled by computers from Utility supplies to the security of the country. This incident just shows how vulnerable we are.
As there is nothing I can personally do about it there's no point in worrying.

I was just talking to hubby about this a few weeks ago , my concern was if all the computers, networks, etc, etc went down our world would come to a stand still .
We are all so dependant on technology now we would be scuppered , nothing is put in writing anymore , no paper backup , Medical records, Utilities, Banking , Legal records, and so on would all be lost or at least no access to it all for a length of time , but what is the solution ? the little people like you and I can do little if anything at all .

I think all we can do is back up anything important that is on our computers on to an external drive. And of course be careful about not opening any emails etc that look even slightly suspicious, such as an email that looks as though it's coming from a friend, but has an attachment which you weren't expecting, or looks a bit odd. You can always contact the friend through a different medium such as a text message, to check first.

But I agree, it is very scary and there may be electronic back ups of information and records, but not paper ones. Perhaps we should all go back to pen and paper.

Our Dr's surgeries website was attacked. I have repeat prescriptions on order for myself and my mum, not sure if it will delay things by much.

Hopefully the surgery will have some of the old prescription pads it all else fails. I suppose they could hand write on to the computer fed prescriptions as well but they are also used to keep a record of who is prescribing what etc. One lady had an appointment this morning and was given her (rather mixed) results. My brother is due his scan results tomorrow but he has told me he isn't expecting good news. His health trust wasn't on the list of the ones hit but it is worrying how this could affect so many people and their prognosis.
