    Murders of Nottingham Students

I'm sure we've all seen or read the horrific news about two students and another man being stabbed to death in Nottingham, and our hearts go out to their families and friends. The father of one of the victims (Grace O'Malley-Kumar) has spoken movingly about urging her friends to look after each other in their grief.

I can't imagine how these senseless murders will affect students in general, in what is the summer term when some will be graduating and all would normally be in high spirits and partying. Their own families must be worried about them too.

My DS2 went to Nottingham Trent and I remember the city as a great place for students. It's also Sum1's home town and I'm sure she too must be shocked and upset. Also thinking about Oma's GS1 who starts university in September. (Not Nottingham, but I'm sure there will be an impact across many universities.)

I'm also thinking about a friend whose only child was killed in a totally preventable accident while at uni - the legal repercussions are still going on several years later.

After two students were killed in Nottingham, others share their experiences of loss at university.

Such a terrible case, my friends and I were discussing this when we were out the other night.

Lizzie will tell you about her poor nephew in Sheffield.

It worries us greatly about GS going off to Leeds University, but they have to spread their wings we can’t wrap them in cotton wool
We spoke to GS about this and he knows how worried and scared we are but as he said it could happen on a night out at home , he has a point but it doesn’t make it any less scary for us and his parents .

Those poor families losing young ones and the caretakers family losing a Husband Father and Grandfather in a senseless tragedy.
This world we are living in is not what we hoped our children would be living in , so sad

Oma, I agree - they have to spread their wings, but parents and grandparents can't help worrying about them. We just have to trust that they have learned to keep themselves as safe as possible and hope they don't find themselves in dangerous situations. xx
