Wow !! That Was Kept Underwrap's

I'm commenting on the marriage of Boris & Carrie at Westminster Cathedral yesterday I wonder why no one saw (specially media) noticed the Banns being up in the Cathedral I thought it was law to have them displayed.
Wishing them all the luck in the world with his track record she may need it.

According to the papers this morning, you don't need to have Banns called if you're marrying in a Roman Catholic church. And as his previous two marriages didn't take place in an RC church, they are not recognised by the RC church!

They certainly caught everybody on the hop though!

WeeGranny - I think you're right about the banns. A vicar in a CofE church is licensed to complete the register but other denominations have to have the marriage registered by the Registrar.

I haven't seen the news for a couple of days - are there any photos of the wedding?

We married in a Church of Scotland , which was the one I attended growing up and we signed the Register, but we had to take the paperwork to the Registrar to get our Marriage Certificate. Our Banns were called three weeks before in the church we were marrying in and in OH's parish church which was CofE.

There was one in the Telegraph this morning Daisy.

WeeGranny - I think our banns were called in OH's parish church (in Wales) and ours (in England).
