    Father-to-be killed in accident

Christopher Pekny was making a device to be used at his child's gender-reveal party, police say.

I know baby showers are popular and can be lovely happy times, but the trend for so-called Gender Reveal parties seems to be going too far. I had no idea such things existed, but it seems the 'big thing' is some kind of explosion releasing pink or blue powder/smoke/glitter to indicate a baby girl or baby boy.

How horrific though that there have been multiple accidents and deaths from devices going wrong. One gender-reveal party was blamed for starting a wildfire in California last year.

    What's your opinion on them?

Stupid and apparently dangerous, what is wrong with dangling a needle over the expectant mother's tummy.

There was a party in the new apartments down from us last year, the whole street was pink!! I see the baby was born last week so it will be a girl.. Ridiculous!!! In our times we just had to wait and see!!!!!

I have seen several of these on Youtube often with small children near by

The balloon pop ones are ok but these explosive ones are down right dangerous , like the Lanterns that are lit and allowed to float into the night , they have started lots of fires .
Im not fat just 6ft too small

What a terrible freak accident. These things sound dangerous.
I think gender reveal parties are a bit silly, but have enjoyed the baby showers we have had for the DDs. I don't personally know of anyone who has had a gender reveal party.
