    Holiday Home, Anyone?

If you're thinking of a modest staycation in the UK this year, or possibly thinking of buying a UK holiday home, I'm afraid you've just missed out on a beach hut on Mudeford Sandbank (Dorest). It's 12 x 10ft, has no mains electricity or running water, showers are in a communal block. The hut has calor gas for cooker and fridge freezer and hot water from a pump run on solar panels on the roof. There's a chemical toilet - great joy! Rates are about £4,500 a year, and you can only sleep there between March and October, although the council will allow you to visit any time!

Other information you should know - you can't take your car there. You have to go on the land train or ferry - or walk!

The selling price for all this luxury? Just a mere £330,000 - that's not a typo!

Lizzie - absolutely. It is the most gorgeous spot despite being called "Mudeford" and being on a sandbank, but like the Super-Millionaires place called Sandbanks further west I'm sure it will one day disappear under rising waters due to climate change!

Wow, I suppose someone will buy it. That price would buy a very modest house in this area.

OH watched a programme about Harry Rednap, who lives in Sandbanks. It looks very expensive.

It resembles the Man Cave that I have in my garden !!! yes Gems Harry Rednap lives close by I saw his programme with his wife and friends I think they have their own part of the beach as well as.For that price here on Wirral you would get a really nice 4 bed house plus a very large garden shed to boot.

Plant - someone has bought it! It went on the market for £325,000 and sold within 48 hours for £330,000! A neighbour of ours rents a beach hut from the Council each summer at Mudeford itself - a stone's throw away, and on the mainland. I don't know how much it costs, but it's a tiny fraction of the price of this one!

I saw some of the Harry Rednap programmes, too. I think Sandbanks is the ultimate folly. The area is heaving with visitors in the summer, the traffic is a nightmare, and there's every possibility that the whole place could become uninhabitable if sea levels rise!

Glamm - and there are nice beaches and areas on your doorstep, without spending that much on a Man Cave.
