    Madeleine McCann suspect

The news was released yesterday that a German man is suspected by German police of abducting and murdering Madeline McCann in Portugal 13 years ago.
Although her family will want closure, to stop them spending the rest of their lives searching and wondering, this is sad and terrible news.
Not just that if it is true then Madeline is dead. The worst thing will be to imagine what happened before she died and how she died.
It is unbearable to think of that. The innocent little girl, who was slightly younger than my little grandson is now.
How do parents cope with that?

Gem - her little face still haunts me. We can only hope and pray that if this man has murdered her he is brought to justice. Whether it will give her parents and siblings any closure is hard to know, but I hope it does.

He is already in a German jail, so at least not out there doing harm at the moment.

The parents did say they would like they would like to know one way or another, if she is dead.
Can't imagine what they have gone through over the years.

Look how long it took to find out what actually happened to Ben Needham.

Gem, he can be released anyday, I think they have more on him than they are saying. Nanto, I didn't know they actually found out what happened to Ben Needham.

Oh that's alarming that he could be released soon Lizzie.

I agree, no one knows what happened to Ben Needham. I think there is strong suspicion that he died near to where he went missing, as result of an accident, but there is no proof.
If I were the parents, I would be comforted (although I know that is a strange word to use) if it could be proved that his death was sudden and an accident and no one meant to harm him.

It must be soooo hard to cope with, losing a child and never knowing what happened. The same goes for that young girl that went missing years ago in Germany, whilst shopping in the Naffi or something, never a trace of the poor girl.

So sad Lizzie, the same with Claudia Lawrence, the young woman who went missing here in York. Her father is regularly on local TV and radio about her case.

One case that always stays in my mind was the murder of Keith Bennett. His distraught mother died a few years ago never knowing where Hindley and Brady had buried him on Saddleworth Moor. It's almost impossible to contemplate the torture parents of murdered children must go through, without the added anguish of never being able to lay them to rest.

Lizzie - I think you're right - the suspect is due for parole any day now.

Then that little girl in Scotland, in the snow, I have forgotten her name but read the book not so long ago. This is the one.

                              Moira Anderson

SCHOOLGIRL Moira Anderson was reported missing 60 years ago after failing to return home from her local shop. She was 11-years-old when she left her grandmother's house on February 23 to buy butter and a birthday card for her mum's birthday. She was spotted boarding a bus, but vanished shortly after.
