It sounds as though a broad plan has been agreed between Her Majesty and H & M - they will renounce their HRH status and withdraw from all Royal duties, including Harry's military commitments. They will also repay the £2.4m spent on Frogmore Cottage, but it will continue to be their base in the UK.

Before they married, I gave them 5 years! But I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't last even that long.
I think Harry will find the trappings of luvviedum a bit different from that of the Royal family and I'm sure the North American press is capable of giving them as hard a time as the British. I really can't see them getting the privacy they say they desire especially if they're going to be part of the celebrity circuit.
Hopefully I'm wrong on all accounts and they have the lifestyle they say they want desperately.

p.s. such a shame a house that all that money was spent on, will be lying empty for long periods of time though, but good they're repaying the costs of renovating!

I agree WG. Both DDs say I’m wrong but Harry was brought up as a Royal and knew what was expected of him. Megan is no shrinking violet, she must have had some idea of how her life would be.

I want to like Megan but something about her holds me back ,
I hope it lasts for the sake of that little boy but I think Harry is clutching at straws and is blind sided by her , she pulls the strings im sure .

The British press though have a lot to answer too , They build someone up then knock them back hard

If that is the way of life they want and they are not costing the British people money then great

The thing is they will always be in the press as they will be choosing a celebrity life style so from one frying pan to another .

Its only right they pay back the cost of Frogmore house .

We can all speculate about this and how they have hurt the Queen , but this may have been talked about for a long time within the family not one of us know for sure ,
Harry said when he was in the Army he preferred Army life to Royal life so nothing new there ,
Its not like they will be the poor relations they both have several million of their own and no doubt with good PR will make millions more .

Time will tell but I think in the next few years Harry will come back home , I hope im wrong too .

I hate to say it, but I have a feeling Meghan had a plan all along. Now she has had the baby the ball is in her court and I think Harry would do anything to keep her happy. I hope I’m wrong, I don’t like to see anyone’s marriage fail but I can see Harry maybe in the future spending more time here.....but who knows, only time will tell.

They will always have press attention, wherever they live, so No change there.

According to my youngest son who served with him when they where in Afganistan he is very much a mans man and will only suffer the trapping of those show biz people for so long before he realises what he has given up.I always gave Megan the benefit of the doubt but she seems to stamp her feet and call jump and he says how high I don't expect this relationship to last 5 yrs but I hope I am wrong. (I'm feeling better ladies and just passing through for the next week or so xx)

I agree with all that is said by you ladies. Megan had a celebrity life before she met Harry and doesn't want to fit into the Royal way of life, I do hope she doesn't make Harry unhappy. It really wasn't fair to the Queen the way they handled it. I do hope he is still going to carry on with the Invictus Games.

I realise I started this thread without saying what I think - and if I'm honest, I don't know what to think.

On one hand - Meghan gave every indication that she would support Harry and the Royal family as a 'working' royal, taking out British citizenship and living in the UK. I'm quite sure various members of the royal family and the royal households would have given her plenty of information and advice about what a different sort of life she'd be leading, as I'm sure they did with Kate before she married William. Meghan is a worldly, sophisticated woman, not a young girl like Princess Diana was.

But even so, perhaps she couldn't 'hack' the lifestyle, publicity and formality after all.

On the other hand - Harry has discussed quite openly the anguish he suffered, losing his mother in the way he did. We probably all remember how the paparazzi quite literally hounded Princess Di both before and after her divorce. Was it their fault she died - Harry probably thinks so. According to reports at the time he was leaving the army, he wanted to stay and continue with active service. He wasn't allowed to because it was deemed too dangerous - even though he was the 'spare' not the heir to the throne.

So perhaps Harry wants to find a different role in life for himself, his wife and son.

I hope it works for them - but like several other here, I'm doubtful. Meghan won't be happy if their celebrity status diminishes, Harry may find he's given up too much, with too little in return.

It will be interesting to see what happens when the situation is reviewed next year.

Just something about her I’m not keen on, I think she wanted the palatial life and didn’t think that she had to work to secure it , now as others have said she has a baby and she wants a more celebrity life than a Royal one, hence George Clooney etc at the wedding, in all this I feel sorry for William he’s took the job on as a to be king one day as has his wife our future queen, he lost his mum and now his brother in a way, I don’t think you will see much of them now, and I’m not sure the marriage will last.
Already in Canada paparazzi are showing up the grass isn’t always greener on the other side , sorry it sounds a bit harsh don’t mean to be 🤔
