The Duke of Edinburgh involved in a car crash

Poor Prince Philip. Despite being 97 and the vehicle overturning he came though it all unscathed. It must surely have shaken him up however!

This report implies he was driving. I think the time has come to give up!

The Duke of Edinburgh, 97, was helped from his overturned Land Rover near the Queen's Sandringham estate.

He said the sun had blinded him , B said for such a car to turn over he must have panicked and yanked the wheel as those cars are not easy to roll .

I think at 97 its time to give up after all he doesn't need to drive himself , but hes hanging on to his independence by the sound of it ,
These roads are too quick these days for any hesitation in driving ,
So lucky no one was killed and there was a baby in the other car too .
Im not fat just 6ft too small

At 97 i think it's time for him to stop driving.

I agree Oma he must have gone into full lock to turn it over

He was very lucky to literally walk away from it, and thank goodness the occupants of the other car had only minor injuries.

At this time of year low, bright sun is a menace. Just before Christmas a friend of a friend's daughter was killed when she hit a tree after being blinded by low morning sun. She'd just dropped off her two young children at school.

Gem, yes it was, but it can happen so easily. A couple of time recently I've literally had to stop because the sun hits you straight in the eyes going round a bend near us. At least I expect it, but just for a second it blinds you and we've got the added hazard of animals in the road. You really do have to expect the unexpected at this time of year.

The thing I hate most though, is black ice.

Prince Philip was indeed VERY lucky to escape unscathed. So lucky he didn’t even bother to wear his seat belt when he was out driving in his new car!

                  No!!! That's crazy.

The Queen doesn't wear a seatbelt either.

Yes they have both been spotted without seat belts since this accident.
Some people are very lucky to have survived to such a ripe old age!!

Are they both exempt from the law that says it’s illegal not to wear a seatbelt.?If they are on their own land ,fair enough it’s up to them but on public roads it’s a matter of law .This makes me really cross
