    Build A Bear Mayhem!

I was alerted to this as GS1 was taken to our nearest Build A Bear Factory by his school friends mum last week. Very kind of her to take her little boy and my GS after school. She lived to regret it, it was chaos! They were there a very long time, and in the end got ready made bears, as the queues for stuffing the bears was horrendous,.
I think from reading the reports, B-A-B regretted it too!!
What people will do for a bargain!

Families say they won't be returning to the shop after a cheap teddy offer caused eight-hour queues.

I caught a bit of that news, Gem, and thought I'd misheard!!! It reminds me of the Hoover/free flights chaos of years ago. You bought a Hoover and got a free flight - marketing gone wrong, big time.

IT SHOULD have been the marketing coup of 1992: the most audacious buy-one-get-two-free offer ever made. Michael Gilbey and Brian Webb, two ambitious marketing executives in Hoover's Merthyr Tydfil factory, believed their free flights brainchild would make their careers.

I read about it last week people standing in queue's for up to 4 hours in some places with children , then just getting a £12 voucher as the shops ran out ,
Crying children fighting adults it was ridiculous , some even just received the bear and had to go back to have them stuffed at a later date ,
The Bull ring in Brum the queue's were out of the shopping centre and down the street people were there as early as 5am ,

As you say Gem what people will do for a bargain

What did they expect, both the company and the public.

Surely B-A-B would realise how much interest it would cause I saw the chaos on line and was frightened for the children in the mayhem.

              I agree Glamma.
What should be special treat for a child (Walking into the store, looking around, choosing an animal, having it stuffed and putting the heart in, maybe choosing some accessories) must have been a complete nightmare. Long queues to even get inside, all crammed into the store, angry disgruntled adults all around them
I would have left as soon as I saw the long queues.

I even heard that parents let their child have the day off school to go. Rediculous.

I really don't know, Gem, it was the brain child of some marketing 'experts' who didn't quite live in the real world! I bet there are still loads of those cheapie Hoovers lurking in people's garages to this day!
