I know Nan2, I think that name strikes fear in our hearts.

I hope the fire can be controlled Oma. A good downpour is needed. It rains far to much in the UK, but not when you need it to.

Hope they can get the fire under control, not much hope of rain.

I hadn't seen the news, but how terrifying.

They do controlled burning here in the New Forest, and I know it's under control, but it still makes me feel nervous.

Thats the first thing I thought of Nana2 the name just sends a shiver down your back doesn't it.
The people close by must be very worried how awful for them.
I hope they can get it under control quickly and safely.

I've never been there, but it always looks so bleak and lonely in photos, and the horror of it never fades.

Peat is so hard to put out as apparently it looks as if it's been put out on top but continues spreading along underneath ...or so OH says. Full admiration to the fire fighters using those paddle like things to try to put out the fires. Must be doubly exhausting.

I have read reports that the fire service thinks it was started by bikers discarding cigarettes. The thoughtless and stupidly of some people never cease to amaze me. This weekend we have had a fire on the Malvern Hills and that was started by someone idiot who had abandoned a BBQ whilst it was still alight. Unbelievable !!

Mimi, our local radio news last night said that they think it may have been intentional. People were seen lighting a bonfire

It's unbelievable that people set fire to dry, parched moorland deliberately! What morons.
