At what age did you become a mum?

When did you have your first baby?
Nowadays starting your family in your 30's is the norm, and 40 plus is not unusual. When I was young, most of us seemed to start our families in our 20's. A friend who had her first baby at 28, was described as an Elderly Primagravida!

I had my first baby at 21 a few months before my 22nd birthday. Looking back it was very young, but one of my best friends had her son at 17.

I had my first child when I was 22, I felt it was the right age at the time.

Baby number 1,was born 2 months after my 18th birthday.
Baby number 2, was born 2 months and a few days after my 21st.
We have 2 nieces who waited until they were in their late 30's when they started trying for children.
Sadly both of them have had problems. They are both in their 40's now.
Fortunately, after some treatment one is pregnant and due in 10 weeks.
Sadly, it looks like the other one will not be able to have one.
I always think if they had started earlier, things might have been different.

That's true Nan2, with the tendency to start families later, there is less time left if there are problems.

I had my daughter when I was 22 (seems to be a popular age with us ladies) my first son when I was 26 and my second son when I was 32 he was just a little after thought I did have problems through out pregnancies after DD I did want them closer together but lost 4 babies at 4/5mths due to weakness of the neck of the womb DS1 was saved by having a stitch inserted when 10weeks then when full term arrived decided he didn't want to come out and I had to be induced,he has always been a late starter.

There is 3 years difference between our boys.
i wanted them to be closer in age,but it didn't work out that way.

I was 26 when I had my first and was classed as an elderly mum to be 🤔 my 2nd at 30 , my Dd was 30 when she had her Dd and there will only be the one, my DS was 37/and dil was the same but they didn’t meet until they were 35 so problems arose but they have twins now and all is well with their world 😀

My 2 daughters who are mums didn't start their families until their 30's. My youngest will be 30 in a few weeks, so is following their trend

I was just 29 when my first son was born - I was a Elderly Primagravida as well! And I was nearly 32 when DS2 arrived.

My DS1 was 31 when he became a dad for the first time, and 32 when number 2 arrived. My DS2 was 35 and 38 when he became a dad.

My own mother was 39 when I was born, so as a family, we're obviously slow off the starting blocks!
