    Lists

    Are you a list maker?
I heard a very interesting piece on this subject on Woman's Hour this week.
It seems there are a lot of us list makers about, and most of us women!

I live to make lists! At any one time I have several ongoing lists.
Shopping lists for us and for mum.
A to do list regarding mum.
A to do list for myself, for tasks to be done, appointments to be booked etc.
A to do list for the committee I am on. Sometimes for this forum too.
We have a list of places to go to when we both have a free day.

I make countdown lists. This could be for Christmas, a holiday, having friends around for a meal, stuff like that.
I tick things off, and often make new smaller lists when several things are ticked off the original list

My 3 daughters are all list makers. We all feel they are essential and we all enjoy making them. Crossing things off the list is most satisfying.

I know some people don't use lists much at all, and manage somehow to be organised!

I didn't used to be , now I find I must or I will forget everything

I always have my shopping list and pen on the work top so when I remember things I jot them don't straight away before I forget ,
There was a few thing I wanted to buy after xmas ( couldn't warrant buying them before hand ) like a new kitchen bin , new towels, and lots of little things I just know I would have forgotten if I didn't have a list

If its just a few things while I'm out I put a piece of masking tape on my purse and write the things on there ,

Appointments are put on my calendar as soon as they are made as we have so many I couldn't possibly remember them all , that hangs in the Utility and checked everyday ,
B's Tablets are listed again so many I wouldn't remember what ones if I had to get them for him
So when I think about it , yes I'm a list maker although I didn't realise till I have wrote it down how many I actually make
Im not fat just 6ft too small

I only do list for shopping. I keep a magnetis shopping list and pen on the fridge.
Sometimes i go shopping, and forget to look at the list.
I also make a list for mams shopping.
Like Oma,we write appointments on the calendar as soon as we make them.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I love making lists. I even make lists of lists, just the act of writing things down makes things stay in my mind somehow, I like different notebooks for different lists too. My DD and DGD are the same, so definately a female thing in our family.

My immediate response was "no, I don't make lists, but think they are a fantastic idea", but actually I do make lists!

We keep a notebook on the fridge door with a pen and make an ongoing shopping list. General groceries go down the left, cleaning materials etc go down the top right and fruit and veg start half way down on the right! If we shop and can't get something on the list, it's added to the next one straight away. OH is much better at this than I am. I keep a 'birthday book' for, guess what, birthdays, although I confess I often forget to check it. But I am better than OH at putting things on the kitchen calendar - his events as well as mine! I keep the phone numbers stored in the house phone up to date, which is a kind of list!

I have a list of essentials to put in the caravan when we go away (although last time I forgot tea towels!)

This last Christmas, for the first time I made a list of Christmas cards to send.

Enfys - I agree, just the act of writing something down helps you to remember.

I have always written lists for shopping essentials and as I finish one item I list it and replace,I keep lists of appointments on the calendar and check it every Sunday for the following week.
Daisy I also keep a birthday book and when I see a suitable gift will buy it what ever time of year I just make sure I write beside it where it is placed in the house as I have tended to have forgotten where it is before now.

I have always had to make lists . I have a terrible memory. It has nothing to do with age , I have always been the same.
I can remember silly things but give me an address or phone number and it’s gone in a flash if I don’t write it down . When it comes to grocery shopping I look in the fridge/freezer , food cupboard and bathroom cabinet to see what I am low on , write it down then log on to my online grocery order and add any items I need there and then . It’s no good thinking I will remember, I have to do it at once.

As well as my many lists, by the way, I have a diary and wallcalender, with appointments, meeting up with friends etc on them
I have a very useful birthday calendar, given to me by a friend who lives in Holland. I have had it years, there are no days only dates, so it never runs out, you just turn it back to January at the start of each year

I have lists of shopping and after I have checked the calendar for the day ahead, I write it on a piece of paper and put it with my purse on the kitchen table, it usually is a reminder to me what to take and/or who I am picking up and what time. My food shopping list is on the fridge door

I need lists and a diary to survive. I have a pad and pencil on my bedside table so if I wake worrying about something I can write it down an go back to sleep. There is nothing like ticking off things on a list to make me happy.

When we repainted the kitchen about a year ago, I found a 'To Do" list of household jobs on the side of the fridge. It was very faded and hard to read, but there were a couple of items ticked off with the date April 13 next to them. This would have been April 2013, not 13th April!!! I had a good laugh, showed it to OH and then threw it away! There, all done and dusted.
