    New Year Resolutions?

    Have you made any?

We all know they are a bit pointless really, are we any more likely to stick to them now than at any other time of year? All the money that gyms rake in in January from annual membership from people who never set foot in the gym again beyond March says otherwise!

However it does somehow feel a good time to make if not resolutions as such, but promises to ourselves. To be better or do better, or to make changes.

For what it's worth, these are mine :
Lose some weight, exercise more and take better care of myself. With surgery and radiotherapy, and recovery taking up parts of last year, hopefully this year I can just concentrate on doing the best for my body.
I am a busy person, one of the Sandwich Generation. I need to make more time for me, to do things I enjoy or find fun or relaxing.
I want to spend more time with friends. I aim to be (even) more proactive in bringing this about.
    That's about it!

Sounds like a good and I hope achievable list of resolutions for you Gemini.

I don't usually make New Year Resolutions except to lose the weight I have put on over the Christmas period.

I always used to make a New Year Resolution. Gradually over the years they became more achievable. I worked out I was never going to be SuperMum with clean sparkling children, house and garden, rising at dawn to bake organic bread while tripping across the dew spangled lawn doing my morning yoga stretches!!!

One really successful one (the only one!!) was to recycle glass. Our local authority didn't collect it at the time and sometimes it was tempting to just chuck it in with general rubbish. So I got a couple of crates and started taking glass to the recycling centre. Then a couple of years later the LA started glass collections. It was my finest hour!!

This year I am resisting the urge to join classes to do Spanish, Art, Pottery, or Needlework, start a water-based exercise class or write letters to friends. I am going to work harder at Eva's training. We're doing well, but we could do better. It's all too tempting to take her to the paddock for a good run (which she loves) rather than doing the heel/lead work she needs to do around the village and in the Forest. This will also help with my fitness levels - I hope!

Perhaps I should revisit this thread in June and see how I've got on.

I donā€™t usually make them because I break them as well but I am going to finish my on line course and do the train the trainer course by June and find someone to practice on before finally trying to make some money with it. I am also going to rigidly stick to my four days a week instead of stuffing all my work into four days and still worrying it about it on my days off.

The last thing is to finish the flat renovations. Our room will be done by the end of January and I want to little room to be done by end February?

Hi All, Happy New Year .
Last year I tried so hard to stop over thinking every thing, and did quiet well until June, but checked myself and stopped again. You know I think I've mastered it now. I'm so much better at it, and happier for it.
This year though I really must take my Mam out more, and spend proper time with her. Not just doing her shopping and dropping it in, then a trip to the doctors etc. We must go for drives in the countryside and have coffee and cake
After having her stay for 5 days over Christmas it's made me realise, how lonely she is and more fragile than I realised. So that's it for me, More Mother - Daughter quality time.

Oh my.... I don't make any resolutions. I generally work hard at 'kindness' all year through.

GJ - I expect your Mum has been quite stoical and not wanting to 'bother' you, so it's not always easy to tell when someone's lonely, but I'm sure you will both enjoy some nice trips out, and we all love coffee and cake, don't we!

That's a lovely resolution to make. xx

Nana - I know what you mean. I feel awful if I think I've say put my foot in it and hurt someone's feelings.

To take care of my health more, be careful what I eat and take more exercise. Also, try and get out and about a bit more, I find it too easy to curl up with a good book but I know that socialising is better for my mood swings and must try harder.

Otherwise, just get in with things and try not to overthink everything.

I have downloaded an app to my iPad for relaxation etc and it seems pretty good, so will continue with that too. Fingers crossed I feel less frazzled after all this šŸ¤ž
