    Changing tastes

One of our favourite meals has always been Cauliflower cheese , I'm not keen on a strong cheese as I really only like soft cheeses but I'm ok with it in this dish ,
Tonight B made Cauliflower cheese for tea and I was looking forward too it till I took the first mouthful ,
I just couldn't eat it , I felt sick at the smell and taste ,
The last time we had it I didn't enjoy it but thought maybe I just didn't fancy it , but I realised tonight I have gone right off it ,
Have not changed the cheese its the same one we always use, so must be my taste has changed !!
Odd how that happens isn't it .

I can relate to what you are saying Oma. i used to love salad, but can't look at it now.
I have just started eating bananas again, after not having on for years.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I think tastes can change as we get older Oma. Both in going off things and liking new things.

OH and I both disliked olives, we would often try one when we were out, to try to make ourselves like them, as they are good for you. Every time, it confirmed that we did not like olives. Then, 3 or 4 years ago we found we both liked them. In fact we love them now. We regularly buy them for home and often order them out. We think it is so weird that we both went from disliking to loving them, but it's perfectly true!

Perhaps your body knows that cheese might start a migraine Oma

I love black olives Gemini but most green ones are a bit sharp.

Oma you'll get arrested😲 I wish I could go off Pizzas & start liking salad. My love of pizza from an Italian place down the road is my pitfall to disaster. If only.

It’s true but funnily enough it’s the opposite for me , I’ve gone on food I couldn’t stand like sprouts, cabbage, asparagus , avacados and green olives couldn’t bear them but love em now

Love pasta and rice dishes but don't eat them often as high in calories plus the sauces.

Oma I love cauliflower cheese but we don't have it now as too much cheese is bad for OH.

I used to love pickled onions, beetroot , lots of vinegar on chips but now anything with vinegar brings on heartburn. There are now many foods I can't eat because of my hiatus hernia , eating banana , nuts , pastry, spice and limes will bring on intense pain.
I used to enjoy pizza but I can only eat the thin crust , which I am not fond of but what puts me off the topping, I find it all too sweet, I think the tomato puree that is sometimes spread on the top is where the sweetness is coming from.

I went off tea when I was pregnant with my son who is now 43. I have tried to like it since but I just cannot so I drink fruit tea sometimes and juice instead. I like milk but only semi skimmed but used to only like full fat. I adore olives especially the ones with pimentos in them.

I think the only only food I don’t like is marzipan although I like almonds. I think this has to do with being taken Poorly as a child at a wedding reception hosted by my parents and me ending up in hospital with jaundice. I don’t think it actually had anything to do with the marzipan but that was the last thing I ate before being ill.

Love cauliflower cheese and will often have with ham as a light supper. I make a big batch of cheese sauce and freeze it so it is easy after a long day. Not keen on Chinese food but will eat it if husband wants it. I love Indian and can take or leave pizza but I don’t like thin crust ones. Husband never used to have anything “foreign” when I first met him and when I did persuade him to have Indies it was always the mildest he could find but that has changed and as long as I have a pot of plain yoghurt or creme fraiche handy (just in case) he will try almost anything. He detests fish though which I love so we never have fish although he will eat smoked salmon and prawns.

I went off tea when I was pregnant with all three DC. In fact it was one of the first things that made me think I could be expecting. Obviously this was in the days before early pregnancy tests. As soon as the baby was born I fancied tea again.

I went off coffee (which I loved, I hardly ever drank tea in those days) with DD1, tea with DD2, and both with DD3. I used to go to friends for coffee when I was pregnant with her, but in fact drank water! As you said Clover, as soon as the babies were born I could drink it again.
