    How were you proposed to?

Just been reading Plantaholics post about someone being propsed to.
We had gone to Blackpool for the week, and hubby just said we might as well get married when we get home.5 weeks later we were wed. That was 46 years ago.
Not the most romantic proposal, but hey ho.

I don't remember OH actually proposing. He got moved o a different area with his job and we got married because we couldn't afford to travel to see each other! We'd got a holiday booked and got married so the holiday became our honeymoon.

Sitting on a staircase at a party somewhere in South London! Only problem was we were both in relationships with other people at the time!!! It all worked out alright because we've been together since 1970!!

We just kind of got engaged,I presumed that meant he wanted to marry me-too late now to change his mind now, 46 years later.

got fed up with waiting and proposed on a trip to Germany on 29th February. It is a long story which I will tell one day suffice to say we had actually both agreed we wouldn't get married but I changed my mind. Decided this particular frog was not going to escape. We married quite shortly afterwards

Well, we were so passionate about each other, and so pleased and relieved to be together after years of pretending we didn't even like each other (we met at work, he was my boss) we just assumed, as everyone else did, including his two adult daughters that we would tie the knot. Turns out everyone was well aware we were in love, although both of us were trying to hide it like mad and obviously couldn't, so it came as no surprise to anyone !!! No one proposed per se,, we just set a date and that was 25 years ago next month. We are having a Blessing on our anniversary as we were not married in church, which we are looking forward to immensely.

I honestly can't remember. A colleague of mine when I was working in Pakistan introduced me to his best friend after we returned to the UK and that was that. We married about 18 months later.

I possibly am the only granny here to have taken her bridesmaid on honeymoon with us! As I said in an earlier post, we had booked a 2 week holiday to my friend's parents' home in the South of France. She had been working in the UK as an au pair and we were all travelling down by car together. Then OH got moved back to Wales 6 weeks before. We got married on the first day of our holidays and had our first night of the honeymoon in a random hotel on our drive down to London. My friend travelled down by train the next day and met us there and we all travelled down to her parents' place together. That was 1967, so nearly 48 years ago!

I don't count my first 'marriage' but when my 'now' OH proposed, he'd just met me off the bus. We took turns to travel to each others place each wk-end. When I got in the car he gave me a ring (in the box) & mumbled 'Hope you like it'. That was in 1990. We still laugh about it, because it turns out he 'proposed' in the red light district in Manchester. 😂

At least you got a ring Mamar. I got married at 17,but didn't get an engagement ring till it was my 21st birthday.

I forgot to say in my original post that I proposed on 29 February as well. We were in Germany as guests of Konstanz Carnival (we were then organising a local carnival).
